Exactly. I find it funny how people actually think DC penalties fixed anything. I am still seeing killers DC pretty often and survivors just kill themselves on hook if they don't want to stay in that match anymore. You can't force anyone to play the game if they don't want to, it's as simple as that. The only thing they can do is make people not want to disconnect as much by changing annoying/unfair/boring things and finally nerfing the insanely overpowered things in the game. There is nothing much they can do beyond that.

Personally i dc from a mori everytime. I think moris and keys both should be deleted from the game. Both give unfair advantages.

DCing on purpose for any reason is absolutely unforgivable. You do not learn to counter and adapt by not doing anything. You shoot yourself in the foot everytime. Not to mention everyone else in the game.

I definitely think DC can be justifiable. I am in the camp that believes you shouldn't have to play the game with people who are intentionally trying to ruin it for you and/or everyone else. Everyone in the game paid for the game with the intention of enjoying themselves. Everyone in the game has a finite amount of time to play. I'm not going to waste that time in a match with someone purposely and blatantly being toxic. I'm going to move on and spend it with people who share the same love of the game I do and who actually give a ######### about other people.

I have absolutely DC'd on matches where a player(s) were purposely trolling and/or hell bent on making it as unpleasant as possible. I don't feel any obligation to stay stuck in a game where people are purposely being toxic - why would I? If you simply lose a chase, is that a reason to DC? No. Of course not. I enjoy challenging games. I accept fair losses like most people. Have I seen people DC because they were the first person caught out of the gate or because three gens popped in their first chase? Yes. Do I consider that justified or your game ruined? No. But, we all know people can be unbearably toxic in this game and that it can happen game after game after game.

I understand the DC ban and I don't necessarily disagree with it, but I think the DC ban fails to address the core issue of WHY DCing was such a rampant problem. It's treating the symptom, not the disease.

DCing is just a person's refusal to get better at the game. I honestly think they should be in timeout longer.

I defend dc'ing when in certain situations. The hatch tech is not one of them. But if ur teammates are being unfair and unsportsmen like then it is acceptable, or if the killer tunnels and camps and farms others then you should dc. I hate the penalties and I dont support the dc penalties.

No there are situations when its just unacceptable and normal gameplay is just not an option any more. There are appropriate times to dc

I wouldn't DC but I do think it needs fixed so someone with bad internet doesn't have the priority in that instance.

The game needs a better way to handle connection latency for sure.

Antonio Clown is raising his hand lol.

There are some DCs that are understandable, life problems, getting abused while hooked, being picked on match after match, seeing the same killer constantly, I get it. But doing it because you got slapped by NOED or because of a mistake you made, that's weak.

If I don't feel like I want to play a game against the player I'm playing I have the right to leave. If a killer is tunneling me just to slug me to dead I don't see a reason to play it.

When a survi uses an exploit.

In a game yesterday one of them put himself inside of a locker while downed and I couldn't take him, so bye bye.

The only justifiable reason to DC is

Real Life Problem: 3 day's ago my step-daughter legit came into my room crying because she missed her sister and I had no choice but to DC and comfort her.

Game Breaking Bugs: Last week I had a match with Wraith that was so bugged out that I couldn't cloak, than it got to the point to were one of the survivor's that I hooked couldn't get rescued off the hook and even after the endgame collapse timer expired I was still trapped in the match with a bugged out hooked survivor. This goes for hacker's as well

Just like the post that's mentioned in this one a lot of y'all are letting your entitlement justify DCing about things that aren't irl or game breaking bugs

I just don't like to be punished with unfair bans for my 5th dc of the day because my internet starts lagging when killer is facecamping me or using a mori. It's just not fun at this point so my internet just goes out....

    It's bs... don't dc.

The only times i defend dcing is

    Real life stuff came up

    Or

Someone is legit cheating. I dont mean someone is using a killer or perk i hate. I mean someone is using hacks.

No, under no circumstance. Yet, I stil did it. Why, cause I got too angry and I was like: "I can't deal with this" but I knew it was my fault. So I gave myself a big: "l2p #########"

Only in the obvious cases like being locked somewhere by a bug, IRL situations and so on. Yesterday I ran into the "infinite slug" bug where upon hooking someone it froze, and eventually they disappeared and became a slug forever stuck in the "being carried" state... aka immortal and unable to bleed out or even die to EGC.

I don't think it's some evil act and that DC penalties should be 2 hours first offense or anything though. I'm more worried about serial offenders than occasional disconnects.

But it's like with many other things, to some people it's never their fault or their side's fault. They disconnect because someone else did something bad, just like people go into threads about someone doing something obnoxious and "toxic" just to accuse the thread creator of being toxic first with absolutely no evidence implying it 🙃

Honestly i hate DC`s, i understand if there are issues and stuff but people quitting because they go down etc. just ruin the game, i actually stopped playing because id get so many DC`s each game and people abusing the DC exploit. i play the game to play the game you know, i understand we can all have bad games and stuff but there isnt a need to quit, things can change and you will get better but nothing is more annoying than playing fair even when people run god loops, click flashlights and then DC on their first down... like im not being funny but both sides do what they do to win and i shouldnt have people quit because theyre doing bad. i often run party streamers, i dont slug and i dont tunnel and yet people just DC which just wastes my time and add-on/offerings. Afterall i think the longer games are the better games so people quitting and cutting it short for everyone just ruins multiple peoples fun. the only people that are okay with DC`s are the people that rage quit often or have the worst connection known on earth which im sure most people dont wanna play with anyway as people dont like randomly teleporting making the game unplayable

    I’ll defend it if

    • The player has an IRL situation
    • They’re being held hostage
    • Someone on the opposite team is hacking or abusing gamebreaking bugs/exploits
    • The Killer and all three Survivors are farming you and the Killer isn’t trying to hook you
    • The game crashed or their connection ######### up.

I don’t think DC Penalty’s are a solution though. People can just hook suicide. It’s not fun playing survivor getting Mori’d or slugged. I get the competitiveness to win, but I think they need to give survivors a better way to defend themselves. I’d DC or hook suicide if I knew killer Had Mori. This isn’t fun.

The fact that people DC in your game should tell you something’s not working where people are actually enjoying the game enough to stay. It’s unfortunate. They need to rework some of the stuff to prevent DCing rather than enforce penalties. It’s just the overall lack of keeping people interested is my issue.

I hate DC'ing, however I think the devs need to re-evaluate the DC penalties. First one should be free (because sometimes the game boots you for no reason and you get a DC penalty), and subsequent ones should have a lower timer (first one being 5 minutes is okay but every one after needs to be scaled down). It should reset based on number of games OR time elapsed since last DC. So if you play all day, and DC once at the start, it resets after like 10 games. And if you go 24 hours without a DC it should reset.

I say this only because the game screws you over sometimes. Until they can fix this, DC penalties need to be toned down just a tad.

I don't defend survivor dcs because the other three are stuck there and have to deal with a probably remorseless killer (after going through toxic red ranks)...

However, I might defend killer dcs if it is clear that they are not having fun and are just being bullied. It is ending an unfun match early for everyone, and survivors keep what points they earned and can immediately look for another match. I dont see why DCing as killer is that bad in that specific circumstance...

I defend dcing because people actually do stuff in their life and if I can't dc then it's like I'm being held hostage in the game. Also, when people dc because they don't want to vs a killer it's because they don't want to play against a sweaty killer and they just want to have a fun game. Or if the killer is boring I don't want to be held in the game. Just my opinion tho.

As killer, I only DC if:

    - 3 gens pop off at the same time during the first chase

    - survivor switches to key in the lobby at last second

    - multiple objects of obsession

    - object of obsession on red forest or ormond

    - that bug where a survivor is glitched and doesn't die during egc (survivors are a lot more patient when this happens so I just eat the penalty)

    - bugs with my power that make me lose at important moments(stalking not working, can't use cloak as wraith, broken nurse blink, etc.)

As survivor, I don't DC unless there's a bug preventing the match from ending, or I'm getting farmed unwillingly. Even if I'm getting bled out, I just alt tab and watch youtube. I'll suicide on hook if:

    - I have no faith in my team and I don't think any of us can get the hatch

    - iridescent huntress

    - multiple afk teammates

    - the killer is facecamping and no one is doing gens (especially if its bubba, like what does my team expect to happen? just work on gens.)

Once, I was playing Plague and a Nancy dced because a teammate had sandbagged her (I got ds'ed and then her team threw down the pallet and vaulted it allowing me enough time to hit her down again) then she dced, I think she should be allowed to do that because her teammate killed her (she was dead on hook) or if the killer is letting people bleed out, those times are acceptable

It's rare I dc, but I have a limited amount of time to play games, and if I think I'm just getting jerked around by survivors or a killer I'll bail out

  • Musicalhex

I defend dc'ing because of how some things are just so game breaking. A killer or survivor is bodyblocking me in a corner or for example the upstairs part of thompson's house? I shouldn't be punished for dc'ing against that. And I don't blame anyone for a split second if they dc against a iridescent head huntress with a mori.

Though I will add that the "hatch tech" is something I don't defend, thats just ass

I defend dcing when you have irl issues to deal with, a game breaking bug or your internet shuts off. If you dc and for reasons other than those I said above then I don’t defend dcs.

  • Johnble

That's no different than a survivor disconnecting because they don't like a certain killer. It's part of the game.

Anyway, I don't defend it but I understand it and since I don't know the reason someone may do it, I don't really care about it enough to complain.
