General Game Discussion (Bloodpoints)
Lately I have been thinking about DBD a bit more than usual. I currently have 300+ hours spent on this game and quite a lot more to go. I really enjoy the game as is on survivor side and despise being on the killer side (getting angry at everything, raging issues whatsoever, doesn't matter though).
Today I would like to discuss the Bloodpoints with you. I would call this an issue and will provide my statements with evidence from a different game.
My thesis is: If BHVR continues to bring out a survivor/killer each 3 months the grind for newer players will be unbearable. And people WONT be starting to play the game.
Currently it takes 1,8 million bloodpoints (roughly) to level 50 a character. Meaning a 10 minute average game awards you with probably 20k bloodpoints (Survivor and Killer. BBQ&C & WGLF excluded because both are teachables of purchasable characters, also makes math quite hard on this one). This means we would need 90 games to max out a character. Which means we need 900 minutes or 15 hours to level 50 a character. With 12 Killers and 13 Survivors this means we have 25 * 15 Hours to get everyone to level 50. This means 15,625 days. Not too bad huh?
The thing is: We have queue times, killers dodging, survivors dodging, bugged lobbies, mories, bad games and so one. Also 20k a game is VERY generous. I would say it's probably 1.5 times the amount until you hit 50 on every character. Lets go with 500 hours currently.
If we now include 60 hours every 3 months the game will be unbearably unfriendly to get into at a later point.
This is not an issue CURRENTLY but it will be. Let me show you an example of a very successful game that is RIGHT NOW struggling with the issue they created years ago.
League of Legends:
League of Legends was released in October 2009 with 40 original characters in the game. Of which a lot of them were cheap characters that you could buy and some expensive ones. It took a LONG time back then to unlock each character. I'd say a couple of hundred hours at least. But it was new, everything was exciting and everyone was to unlock them. Fast forward 9 years and we have a game with 140+ characters, that need to be unlocked. To stay competetive you will need at least 90+ of them. As a seasoned gamer with thousands of hours sunken into the game this doesn't seem to bad. I myself have everyone but 4 characters in league. So whats the problem for me? None. Thats right.
But now imagine being on the other end. Experiencing League the first time. Starting on a brand new account. No characters unlocked, no levels nothing. Damn... You'd need to play 8 hours a day for over 3 YEARS(!!) in order to unlock everything. Thats a hefty amount of time. This is the reason, why no new players will come to this game and stay. The grind is just too much.
The same thing could be happening to DbD if we don't try and look at it early on. People are already complaining, and seasoned players don't care at all. Spending 500k bloodpoints on a P3 maxed character doesn't feel satisfying anyway.
I myself have no perfect solution to this problem without f***ing over each and everyone thats playing by giving everyone 2x or 3x bloodpoints forever and have Ebony Mori + Iridescend Heads in every game.
I would like the community and maybe the devs to write their thoughts in here and maybe we will be able to stop something that will at some point be a massive problem for a game.

you dont need to P3 lvl 50 all perks every character... just the ones you like.
and if you are done with that, you can start thinking of a new project (character).
i do get your point, but you act like its a must have to have every character on P3 lvl 50 all perks, but it isnt. like, why should i prestige my nurse to P3 lvl 50 all perks (which takes me ~3 to 4 months) when i cant even play her?1 -
For survivors i totally agree with you. Definetely. But for Killers i think, getting them to (at least) 50 and all perks is relevant. If I recall correctly it's about 11 million BP for one character to max out. This means only for killers + 1 survivor its about 150 million bloodpoints or 52,083 DAYS of playing straight (without the 1.5x multiplier for queuing and whatnot).
Now imagine there are 4 more killers. thats another 44 million bloodpoints. Another 19 days of grinding. And when their roadmap stays as is. This will be in about 1 year time.0
