'Avoid This Player' Option

Up to max 3 you can use this option to not play with or against this player, If you played with a player who you didnt like his/her playstyle or that person is being toxic this option will be your solution.

Extra good effect that this kind of players will have longer queue times.

What do you guys thinks?

I'd love that tbh, it might encourage people to play more nicely.

It didn't in the games it was tried. In fact, it resulted in longer queues for the best players, who were then only matched with newbies who blocked them immediately.

if the 'best players' aren't trying to put on a fun game for the other humans playing that says a lot. maybe it's not worth being the best if nobody wants to play with you? 👀

The best players in the game are the ones who play the most optimally.

And that means they will play fair, but not necessarily fair to be "fun".

Well, You have only up to 3 names will you gonna use it on good players or toxic players? on good fair billy or on tunneling freddy with mori?

  • Orion
    Orion Member Posts: 21,675

Neither, but thank you for acknowledging this is about survivors wanting to dodge killers.

Killers v Surviviors endless war here dosen't interest me, And now i get why you against idea its not about 'good players being punished'.

Take it easy genius, The idea is much simpler than what you think, Its not about taking your toxicity away.

More waiting in lobby for everyone sounds like a great idea. /s

Imagine how long would SWF lobby times get xD. Since a lot of killers would block at least 1 and then all 4 wouldn't be able to be paired with that killer. This feature would probably completely kill off SWF.

If this were implemented, I can see a bright future (/s) where many big name DBD streamers are isolated from the community, by the community, and can no longer find any matches. Don't kid yourself, they get stream sniped by trolls constantly, so it wouldn't take much time before everyone started abusing this system to ostracize them, and kill DbD play on their channels just for the hell of it. Some of them may deserve it (god knows everyone would've rightfully blocked the hell out of OchiDO before he peaked in infamy), but more often than not it would be the streamers people enjoy watching, because trolls are #########, and as such seem to believe it's their duty to constantly remind us of "why we can't have nice things".

I have nothing against it, even though I can see how it can be abused.

But it would be fine to not get matched again with toxic players.

Yeah, and the reason the simple idea isn't a good idea is even more simple. If you think the obvious problem he's talking is "genius" then the problem is more to do with your rationale.

First, the devs would have to implement a grievance system. For example:

    • If a Survivor unhooks you in front of the Killer, you gain grievances against that player.
      • If the Killer downs you soon after (unsafe unhook) then you gain more grievances.
      • If they did not have Borrowed Time equipped then you gain even more.
    • If the Killer camps your hook, you build grievances against that player.
      • If there are 1 or 0 remaining gens then you gain fewer grievances.
      • If there are other Survivors near the hook you gain fewer grievances.
    • If the Killer slugs you, and if you are within 16m of a valid hook (not broken), and if there are idle crows above you for at least 60 seconds, gain grievances against that player.

After enough grievances have accumulated (they have grieved you across multiple matches), you may choose to avoid that player. This prevents players from blocking good players who constantly win against them.

Players use Hacks to play with streamers and you say players will block them? I dont think streamers will have any problem its Actually the opposite.

I dont have any problem if he disagree with me, many did here. The problem is he start talking why i bring this idea. Just say your reasons or just shut it.

Maybe at the beginning, but not for long. Toxic players would override the want to avoid a skilled player.

One problem this game has is a total lack of consequence for craphole behavior. The game almost encourages it. The devs protect toxic behavior with their idiotic nerfs and policies. Face camp the first hook with 5 gens while nodding and repeatedly hitting the survivor is all good. NOED and Blood Warden will ensure you get to do this to 3 or all 4. No consequences. (There are examples of toxic behavior on both sides.)

An avoid list would be great. Maybe, if one player gets hit with enough avoid due to behavior to where it takes an hour for them to get a match, it will sink in to act like a decent human being. Unfortunately, that is not BHVR's concern. They have more cosmetics to push out.

While I’m sure this is an interesting idea I don’t think it’s going to work I just see people abusing it. Don’t get me wrong but Isn’t blocking people from their profiles simply enough?. I mean never Have I ran into the same people After one game except a few people At the beginning of my first few days. But after that I never saw any of the same users in any other matches.

I'm a survivor main who plays SWF. I'm also not toxic. However, the fact is that this was already tried in other games.

That's not what other games showed, at all. Why do you believe DbD will be any different?

I dont see why we cant avoid other survivors. Especially on Nintendo you can change your username anytime so you cant really keep a list of players. I see toxic fellow survivour...I dont want to play with them ever again . And when I say toxic I mean like fast valuting back and forth through a window next to a gen Im working for.

It would be neat for me to auto-dodge any lobby that these people were in or keep them from loading into my lobby.

I dont see any negatives to this (at least as far as survivours dodging other survivoirs) if it takes me longer to get a game thats fine by me..Id rather not waste my time on people who arent really there to play...

Several games have shown it works. Hackers, scammers, and overly toxic players are more annoying to deal with than a good player that kicked your arse. If you only have a few "avoid" slots, you will want to spend them well.

Personally, I think this community is too far gone to install any of those types of options though. Most of the decent players have left. I rarely ever play anymore, maybe once or twice a week. There is way too many toxic whiners in both the forums and the game itself. Most of my friends have moved on to other games. I keep trying now and then in the hopes things will change because I think the foundation of the game has so much potential.

    Oh well.

It seems like a highly abusable thing.

I'm playing with my two other friends I happen to bump into a Joey that completely destroys us I'm just going to to avoid the Joey.

Then we run into Amanda who does the same someone and so forth until we have a pretty decent number of people blocked and because we're all together we're not going to face these people.

Might not much but now I think of the grand scheme of things where the situation is escalated multiple times with different people now it's going to take you a lot longer to find a killer match or a lot longer to find as game of Survivor

Every night I'd add new mori killers to the list, then remove them at the end for the next night.

See the problem there? I might not like mori's, but the developers do not want to exclude the people who do. They put them in the game for a reason after all.

maybe if the reporting option at the end of the game actually did something then this option probably wouldnt be needed. a message from the game telling such and such has been banned for a length of time would feel nice considering how horrible red rank players have been to someone like me who is new. its just once or twice. its been quite often...

    "Avoid SWF" Option.
