Ranking System Finding Matches
Up until recently there has been a paradigm shift in matchmaking. I am speaking on behalf of survivor and killer. I have been playing the game for a couple years, and never really paid attention to this until introducing someone new to the game.
There are matches where the team is all red ranked survivors and the killer is ranked 20. Is that even remotely fair to the killer? Same scenario goes for the killer. I normally main a killer in the purple league, and was put into a match of all ranked 19-20's. I felt horrible for them to the point I was willing to join their group and donate gear from my survivors.
So where is the fun factor in all of this? Other than getting non-stop rage quit/disconnecting players due to the perception they are being bullied. Which potentially leads players to take the game hostage. Much like the days before killers could start the end game.
Here is a recommendation to this - We utilize a four tier ranking system.
1-5
6-10
11-15
16-20
The group average will determine what tier level they will be put into. Thus negating the issue with someone playing well outside their league.
Additionally need to address those that power-level down. Intentionally losing to get into a lower tier to farm weaker players. A resolve to this issue. Said player is in assigned tier until they level up into the next tier. Once they are in that tier they cannot de-level to the previous one. Only until the monthly reset.
For example: A rank 16 survivor leveled up to rank 15. Now they will remain in tier 11-15. Even if they lost every single match assigned to them. They would not de-level and stay rank 15. Only until the monthly rank reset.
If it means waiting longer for a lobby as killer - fine. Rather hunt players in my own league then feel like I am taking advantage of those still getting the hang of this. We were all newbies to this at some point and time. Lets try and keep the game fun for everyone.
