Does deep wound need a rework?
Maybe not, but I think that deep wound is pretty lackluster at the moment and just flat out annoying.
If so, what do you suggest? Here's my suggestion:
(In this deep wound, the only thing that can deplete it is actions. Also, these numbers are just a concept, they're definitely not a final suggestion. Adjustments would be made, I'd imagine.)
Deep Wound:
- When applied, survivors are given a countdown timer that is, by default, 6 seconds of mending.
- The countdown consists of 8 charges.
- Each time a player fast vaults, they lose a charge on their timer.
- Each time a player crouches or makes a gesture, they lose half a charge.
- Actions such as generator repairs, healing, searching chests, and totem cleansing will decrease deep wound by 1 charge per
- Once their timer runs reaches 0 charges, the next action (vault, pallet drop, crouch, gesture) will put them into the dying state if they do not mend.
- Each charge can be mended back, but a single charge requires 1.25 seconds of mending.
- Charges that are mended back allow for more vaults/actions.
- After mending charges back fully, you have to continue to mend for 6 seconds before you are fully out of deep wound.
Basically, this makes it so a chase cannot continue forever, gestures (teabagging, pointing) are punishing, and survivors will have to make a choice to either
A) Mend back charges to vault more, making themselves temporarily immobile while mending.
B) Risk going into the dying state.
To put it into a better picture, mathematically, here's an example scenario:
Legion just deep wounded you, and you are now being chased. You vault 3 times to get to a safer location. Your deep wound is 3/8ths emptied, meaning you can choose to either mend 3.75 seconds to get 3 vaults back, leaving time for Legion to catch up and potentially down you. Or, you can continue to run and gain distance, making your mend longer and essentially increase the risk of going into dying state.
A survivor with this deep wound could vault 8 times, then if they escape and manage to mend, their mend will take 16 seconds.
However, a survivor that Legion has stabbed and left will only have to mend for 6 seconds since they had no obligation to vault.
I think it's a dynamic idea, but I'm not so sure how it would perceived. Just a concept!

At this point, I think I would accept about anything over the current mending feature, it is just incredibly boring to sit and hold a single button doing literally nothing. At least with generators and healing we have skillchecks, but with mending it is just hold one button for X amount of time.
I think adding some extra little things to it, that might make it more a threat/risk would be interesting even if I don't 100% think your idea would work, but you clearly put a lot of thought into it.

The deep wound was already changed a while ago and I think it’s fine it does what it’s supposed to, the idea you suggest here just would make tunneling as killer very easy for things such as bt, and legion would get a significant buff from this and it’d be too much, It basically Guarantees a down if there in deep wound because you almost never get time to mend mid chase.

Yeah, deep wound was changed several times, but it's still not interactive. I see your point with tunneling here, but being real, that still happens with deep wound now. That's just a fault of killers, borrowed time should not even be all that necessary. But the thing with legion, yes that is definitely true but on the same token I should think he would get a nerf in movement speed back to 110 if this was the case.

Yeah lol that was my intent. I hate just sitting for x amount of seconds with literally nothing to do. There's nothing fun about it, only the 100 survival points maybe. I think that this change definitely would need working around w numbers but yeah mending now is way too unfun.

I'd have to see it in action, but as someone that plays Legion fairly often, I feel like this would just open up the door to letting me abuse survivors that have DW.

Absolutely not.
AGAIN, Legion wouldn't have to do anything for the timer to decrease. This was the issue with pre-patch Deepwound Timer, all Legion had to do is follow them and that's it.
Down goes the survivor. This is the same idea but with charges instead of a constant depleting timer.
Legion is lackluster and flat out annoying because the concept was Dead on Arrival, there were literal rallies on Reddit and Twitter demanding the deletion of Legion when he first came out AND afterwards because of the Deep Wounds. After the rework, people dropped him and Thank God for that.
Legion and Deepwound need a completely different, entire overhaul to their ability and completely delete Deep Wounds from this game.
