The new matchmaker shouldn't hide ranks. How will we know if it's fair?
Right now we know the matchmaker isn't working because yellow and brown killers are matched with purple and red survivors. My understanding is that a entirely new matchmaking engine is being implemented soon that will not rely on ranks and instead rely on a hidden mmr. This means that once the new matchmaker is implemented, the devs will be hiding ranks from public view since the matchmaker is not using them to matchmake.
How will we know the new matchmaker is working at all, though? Right now when I have extremely unfair matches as a brown killer I am at least satisfied somewhat when I see that my opponents were all purple and red and that the game was stacked against me (especially since as a newbie I don't have all my perks unlocked on many killers, while the survivors have 4 3-pip perks, many of them teachable perks from other characters). If ranks are hidden under the new matchmaker, will I simply be left wondering if it was an inherently unfair match or if I simply am not a good killer?
Either rank needs to be viewable as some sort of barometer of if a match was fairly balanced or not (even if the ranks don't perfectly match the hidden mmr, they should still be closer than how drastically unfair matchmaking currently is), or the new matchmaker's mmr needs to be public on match completion like ranks are currently. I want to be sure the new matchmaker is actually working, and not merely hiding the problem.
