I dislike linked skins

i totally get it that sometimes you create something that needs to work together with another cosmetic piece to work, such as the Legions Mascot series (btw, can we talk about you making 4 times the exact same cosmetic just with different colouring for 10$ each?), but by linking so many skins together, you totally deny me any possible creativity with them.

any time i purchase a skin, i look at the combination possibilities with said skin to create my own, unique cosmetic set. However, with you linking the skin parts together you completely deny me that ability - and for some skins i really dont understand why.

Lets take the newest Pyramid Head skin for example - why is it that i can not combine his new, awesome looking Head with his normal body? or when some other skin of it releases in the future, why cant i use the old Headpiece i have with the new skins body?

maybe i really dislike one skins Head or i think that the head from a previous skinset would fit it a lot better - and up to now that wasnt a problem, as i was just able to combine whichever cosmetics i wanted to, linked skins however dont give me that option. its eigther all or nothing, and imo that not only really restricts my creativity but also makes them boring over time, as there is nothing new to test out with them.

another problem with linked skins is, that, if a character only had linked skins (Cheryl), people will just be looking at the skins and buy the one they find to be the best looking out of all of them. Were these skins unlinked, there would be a much higher chance of currently unpopular skins / skin pieces to be bought, as players might want to combine them with others - lets say one skin had two good looking pieces, but the head is ugly, therefore a different skin has a good looking head. people would purchase both skins to mix them up, wear the good looking torso and legs combined with the good looking head from the other skin - with linked skins however this is gonna be restricted to the least ugly skin, which would be the one with two good looking pieces and no one would bother purchasing the other skin, as they wouldnt want to wear majority of it anyway. so from that standpoint you are missing out on potential buyers aswell.

please dont make linked skins standart in the future - the one thing i love about DbD's skins is the ability to mix them up together and create soemthing new, unique and fun, something linked skins just wont allow me to do.

i'd also like to ask you to reconsider having Pyramid Heads "The Corrupted" skin be a linked one, as i find the mask to be really good looking and, should there ever be new skins, might actually consider constantly wearing that - if you'd let me (and its not like the skin parts of this one would only work together when combined, they woukd work perfectly on their own - same thing for Cheryl's skins too btw (im just more focussed on the killer in here, as i mainly play killer and rarely ever touch survivor cosmetics). the only one i can actually understand being linkd together would be the legendary one. every other linked skin is unnecessary and just restricts our ability to be creative with the clothing we got)

I totally agree, I love making my survivors or killers look weird, cool or flashy.

Agreed. I can understand why the legendary + robbie rabbit skins are linked, but Cheryl's and PH's regular skins shouldn't be. I wanted to mix and match Cheryl's cosmetics, but since I can't, I won't be buying them. I'll stick with P3 instead.

    Probably legal reasons, that's it.

yeah, its been confirmed by now that the Silent Hill skins are linked due the license agreement BHVR has with Konami, so for characters from that franchise we most likely wont get any unlinked skins (besides the top variations cheryl has, which are only reskins of the original one though).

however, this still doesnt really excuse some of the original skins they've created that are linked.

for example: why is it that on Kates Oktoberfest skin the head is linked aswell? why not limit the linking of skin parts to the ones where its necessary in order to prevent clipping issues, so we can use the other (her head in this example) on different combos?

i mean, the fact that people literally abuse bugs just to get the headpiece of a linked skin on a normal one says a lot, doesnt it?

Would be weird to have the dress apart from the head, it would make for another way to wear cosmetics other then sets and individual pieces. So they just made it a set.

How would it be weird. The headpiece is just long hair with a flower wreath, it would look fine on some of her other cosmetics. Behavior made it a set because they're lazy and just wanted $10 for a skin that is nowhere close to worth that price.

The head is totally fine. I mean that's it weird to then have the dress as half a set.

honestly, i find it to be weirder that they actually do link the entire set together instead of just the pieces that need it due to clipping issues.

imo it would make more sense would they only restrict our possible creativity with cosmetics as little as possible, so that we can experiment with the sets at least a little bit.

i think that would make the sets / certain set pieces more likely to be purchased by the players, as i said above: maybe one really really likes the kates headpiece, but isnt a fan of the other part of the set - currently they just wont purchase the set at all, however if they were to unlink the head, those players would be much more likely to at least buy the head.

so in that regard they are missing out on potential buyers...

The "clipping issue" excuse that they use is utter bullshit, these linked sets still have a multitude of clipping issues even though they're FORCED LINKED COSMETICS. There should be no clipping issues at ALL, and yet that's their only excuse as to why they aren't letting us customize them. It's so goddamn dumb and they really should undo all this linked bs.

to be fair, i can definitely see and understand why Kates upper and lower body in this cosmetic set need to be worn together, as they are literally the same dress.

its those kind of cosmetics i ment, ones you cant really rip apart and wear on their own.

then on the other hand we have the likes of Clowns Hades cosmetic, which could easily be picked apart and be worn with other cosmetics.

for ones like that i find it to be unnecessary.

especially since we have other greek myth cosmetics that actually CAN be mixed up with others.

But the Feng and Claudette dresses can be separated even though they don't seem to have clear division lines. The Kate and Jane dresses have very clear division lines that could have been easily made into multiple pieces

Honestly anyone defending linked skins hasn't looked at all the available linked skins.

Sometimes it makes sense, for example the oni minotaur skin needs the head and body linked to work

But minotaur skin's sword shouldn't be linked. There is no reason the sword from the minotaur skin couldn't work with the other cosmetics.

Most of pyramid head's linked skins are linked for literally no reason and would work completely fine unlinked

Jane's dress head should honestly not be linked. Sure keep the dress bottom and top linked they wouldn't be apart, but the head is literally just jane's head with some flowers and makeup and could work perfectly apart from the dress.

Nea's linked set literally only doesn't work apart because the head piece doesn't have hair in the back, literally just add hair in the back and it doesn't need to be linked anymore.

The Cheryl sets are pathetic, how is it possible that you can't match a pair of jeans with a t-shirt?,or her black hair etc, same with Pyramid Head outfits,it's bad move from Behaviour or Konami, but if recall correctly one of the devs said that it wasn't Konami's fault,it was them not wanting to fix clipping issues, that's why you can't mix and match, lazy
