What if SWF lowered the number of available pallets?
Like, if you have a two-person team, it reduces the pallets by 1. If you have two two-person teams, it reduces them by 2. If you have a three-person team, it reduces them by 3. And if you have a full four-man squad it reduces pallets by 4. This means SWF's would have to manage their resources a little better. Just a thought I had. Not a perfect solution by any means.

I feel like there would be a better way. What this would be I don't know but denying survivors the right to fight back and do the only interesting thing in the game just is not the way to go.

Yeah, no. It punishes people who aren't in a SWF and even if you're going against a 4man, a 4man swf who is actually trying will still run you for your money even with less pallets.

I always have to say this but unfortunately when people try to think of "solutions" to swf they never get it right.
95% of swfs are bad. They are extremely easy to bait and beat. There is only a select few groups who are actually good.
Removing Pallets, decreasing number of perks, increasing gens, increasing repair times, tell killer they are facing a swf, 1 of each perk per person, separate ques and disabling huds all aren't solutions to fixing swf.
Sorry it seems like I'm being harsh but I'm just sick of seeing the exact same post every single day when no one has put forward a decent solution. The main problem your post is some maps has virtually no pallets. Somebody put up a post earlier today where a map only had 8 pallets, meaning a 4 man would only have 4.

The simplest solution is still just showing who is in a SWF in a lobby. That's more than enough. Some SWFs are not even playing on comms - players should not be punished for playing with friends

Well the only but improbable solution is still to buff solo up to bar and then give killer more power to equalize. But this would mean so much work for the devs that it either will take years to accomplish or rather will never happen.
But to the point of swf, I recently rewatched a series of videos of some German YouTuber playing 4 man swf at rank 20 (they were total noobs, no watching behind them in chases, useless pallet drops, fast vaults followed by no understanding why the killer moves over to them and so on).
Yet they still managed 4 man escapes, pretty fast grasping the advantageous element of communication given by discord in swf.
They could tell when someone is running the killer so others could stay on gens. They coordinated hook saves more or less successful (mostly hook trading). Also from the perspective of the fourth when they were only 3 man swf.
It is an prime example, why swf is so much of an advantage. When both sides are around rank 20 with less than 50 hours, this game is statistically killer sides but swf can completely turn that around.
The problem is this balance stays the same when both sides have an equal level of game experience.
The biggest weakness of swf is overly altruistic gameplay (also shown to no end by the mentioned YouTubers, "Ah, no I have to rescue you...." -.-)
And the amount of swf will probably increase with cross platform friend invites.

There should be no punishment for wanting to play together with friends. However, there should be incentives to wanna play against a SWF group for the Killer and any solo in the lobby.

Sorry this is a terrible idea as this affects solo players.
The whole game is time management and I totally agree that SWFs are unbalanced especially when using communications as they easily reduce the time to achieve their objectives with just simple chilled updates from each other.
SWFs make the game boring for killers and that is what is upsetting a lot of the community in DBD.
I love the idea of friends playing together but it needs to be fair.
A very easy solution is to implement is a thana/dying light slow down that would not affect solo players and only SWF members.
In an SWF of 4? then it a fixed slowdown plus a 4x swf gen slowdown.
In an SWF of 2? then it a fixed slowdown plus a 2x swf gen slowdown with normal speed for solos.
BHVR continue to ignore these obvious balancing issues whilst dealing with 'balancing issues'.
When was the last time you saw @Peanits or @not_Queen reply to these white elephants?
SWF has never been addressed as say buffing a perk like kindred also buffs swfs who can use the perk.
Some perks such as OoO should never ever be able to be used by a member in a SWF.

As a solo-queue survivor, I would hate this mechanic.
Bad enough that I'm usually left for dead or used as the rock that SWF scrapes the dirt off with (the dirt being the killer), but now I have to work with less tools because my teammates have an advantage and need to be dealt with?

Take away skills only from those in SWF. If you are playing with 3 or more people in SWF you lose an ability. Resolved, gg ez.

Every one of those posts has a killer sick of playing against SWF; and not every killer who is sick of it bothers to post.

Also saying all these swf posts show just how big the problem is also isn't correct. When freddy was buffed wasn't their a load of posts asking for him to be nerfed? He wasn't considered a massive problem so he wasn't.

Thank you. If I see a swf discussion where they actually suggest a good change then I'll happily agree. I won't agree though that every single sef solution suggestion until now has been terrible.
OoO needs to be changed 100%. Big maps like Ormond and Disturbed Ward need changed 100%. Keys and Moris both need changed 100%.

This. It doesn't matter what kind of penalties come up with, if you really want to circumvent them you can just go solo, have everyone press the button at the same time and then keep dodging until everyone ends up in the same lobby.

Any nerf they try and do to swf will either by easily countered or harm solo players even more. That's why I'd rather buff solo q and killer at the same time. Try and bring everyone up to a similar level.

Best thing a killer can do, imo, is forget the term SWF exists and just play your best.
I get spanked sometime, with 1 or 0 kills, sometimes I absolutely destroy the team and feel bad and give the 4th one hatch because I killed all 5 before they did a single gen

I wouldn't want to see that. Being in a SWF doesn't make them any better in a chase, so changing the amount of pallets seems like a completely unrelated change just because. More importantly, that would mean that anyone playing solo with a partial SWF group in their lobby would have fewer pallets to work with.
That, and it also assumes that all SWF groups are amazing. Most of them are pretty mediocre, completely indistinguishable from solo players. Sometimes it's a long time player playing with their new friend. Adding a blanket punishment to everyone just for those few really good teams out there (who would probably do fine even without comms of any sort) would likely not go over well.

If that's the logic behind balancing outperforming things in the game, then why did they nerf the nurse? The average player did horribly with her. Why balance around the skilled players (besides the obvious logic that the potential of something is exactly where you should balance) instead of average players?
I can understand that this particular suggestion isn't that great cause it hits solo players as well, but the idea that all swf groups aren't amazing so we shouldn't balance around what they're capable of at high skill is ridiculous.
With over 2000 posts, you've definitely seen viable swf balance suggestions. You've just chosen to ignore them or claim they're not viable
- disabling certain perks for SWF groups (primarily Object of Obsession)
- only allowing one of each item type per SWF group
- limiting max rarity allowed for items and addons for an SWF group based on their size
- adding extra objectives for SWF players while solo players can escape as normal

OMG your correct! I've ignored so many amazing posts that tell people how to balance swf teams because reasons?!?!
Let's take your suggestions one at a time.
- Object should be changed or removed, not just banned in swf teams. No perks should be banned from swf teams.
- The 4 flashlight teams are usually the easiest to beat. Extremely easy to bait. This is also the same for sabo squads.
- Can't wait to tell the baby survivors that they can't use certain items because of being in a swf. If your mainly implying stuff like instaheals you can avoid them by playing smart.
- Extra objective just for swf teams? Again your just punishing players for playing with their friends. How would you balance this around 2/3/4 man swfs? This suggestion isn't really anything since you haven't specified what it would be.
So far all I see is punishing baby swf teams while only creating minor inconveniences for good swf teams.

Doing anything to SWFs that directly affects solo players in the lobby with them is not a viable solution.
I think the real issue is that people have become so obsessed with getting the 4-5 gen 4K that the second it's difficult, they want nerfs for the other side. But with ranking going from 1-20 and people in the game having a range of 0-thousands of hours, there's no possible solution without totally ######### over newer players. There's just too wide of a disparity in game talent for blanket solutions.
I play on PS4, so I know my experience is different from PC players, but if I go against a SWF, I usually have no idea it's happening. (I'm too lazy to check friends and also I do not care enough.) When I lose, it's usually because I've been paired with people well above my killer rank or because I'm attempting Nurse lmao (or just had a bad day, it happens). The one time I was absolutely positive I was facing a SWF, I got a Merciless 4K (with Legion on Pale Rose) because they hook-rushed and constantly went for flashlight saves, so they ignored gens for altruism and eventually I got them all slugged and hooked just to stop being blinded.
I'm sure the stats might have changed, but the last time stats were released for rate of SWFs v solos, they were a very small percentage. Could definitely vary by rank, but still a small percentage overall. But if you're trying to nerf red rank depip squads, those effects will also go for a group of four new people just learning the game. And then they'll get frustrated and stop playing because it's tough at the beginning. But even a full red rank squad isn't necessarily trying to derank killers. I always use my friends and I as examples when I respond to these things, but at our best, we're in red/purples, usually R1-R4-R5-R7. And we are DUMB. Because - shocker - some people just play for fun.
And if it's obvious you're not gonna get a bunch of kills in the match, just work on practicing a skill or getting bloodpoints, take the L, and move onto the next match. And if that's really difficult, go outside for some fresh air. But calling for blanket nerfs is not a viable solution to this "problem."

No, that still punished people for wanting to play with their friends. If you want to see the playerbase drop massively then yeah, this is a GREAT idea. As someone else said a better solution would be to buff Solos up to SWF, then buff killers to compensate. (Or do both at the same time). Boom.

This suggestion still hurts soloQ survivors, because they have teammates that are doing everything slower than normal. That adversely affects them as well.
Honestly, the only way to fix the SWF is built in game chat, followed by doing something to balance the game after that. Any nerf to SWF will adversely affect soloQ as well.

Easiest solution is to just add voicechat to the game. But apparently because some people don't want voice chat and those people would also be unable to find a button to turn it off it's not going to be implemented.

It all depends on the person. I don't know whether I'd like it or not. If you have an option to turn it on or off then I think I wouldn't really care. They'd need to buff killers to balance it.

Otherwise in the lobby a kind of indicator for the killer that lets him know if there is a swf.
And also the killer gains bonus blood points if he faces a team.
Like 1000 or 1500 points or more per swf team member killed
