Clarify the new Match Making System... with MATH
We've seen instances where some people are very happy with the results, and others where they are unhappy. Sometimes we seem to find balanced matches, where others a rank 1 killer with 5k hours goes against 4 rank 20s with less than 100 hours combined...
We had a generally vague announcement, followed by another generally vague Q&A. We get it, you want us to trust you that it's working as intended, or after a few matches it'll work... or it'll get better with "real world numbers" etc.
So, in order to get that trust from us. I ask of you. Please. RELEASE THE MATH!!!
Show us how these hidden MMRs are calculated.
Please. The nerds want to know! You don't have to give away the secret baked beans recipe, just an example of what someone "outplaying" another player means... Is it their match points?... time in chase?... pips? (lolnopls)...trials escaped/survivors sacrificed?
PLEASE! MATH!

From what I've seen they're going to give us more information "soon". However be aware I've also seen in the same discussions that they likely will not give us "the math". I personally was of the same mind, but the reasoning not to is that if everyone knows exactly how it work it becomes very easy to game the system. So expect more vague stuff whenever it comes.

if they "give us the math", people will find loopholes to work around the system, and get easy games against lower rank survivors

That literally doesn't make any sense. If we don't know what we are at, how can you manipulate it?
As a community we deserve to know how we're supposed to "outplay" the others. Clearly it isn't rank, they even said rank doesn't matter in their announcement (which is hilarious btw). Which implies that the system the determines rank doesn't matter, I.E. points, emblems, pips... So what, actually, is it?

If it doesn't make any sense to you, then knowing the math behind MMR system wont change anything for you anyway.
Good players (or rather mathematicians) could find out how to enjoy the game (whatever they mean by that, some want to get 4 BBQ stacks, some want to get 4k every game, etc) while constantly loosing MMR or not gaining much. So bunch of redranks would be able to have easy games against lower ranks, which would destroy matchmaking.
Of course that wouldn't be possible in perfect system, but such thing does not exist and never will. Game is too complex to have perfect matchmaking. So some behaviours in game may bring too high MMR penalties, and having math revealed would allow those penalties to be found and finally let players abuse them to have easier matchmaking in future games.
About "how to outplay the other side". Objective of the game didnt change much if at all. Survivor wants to get fair bit of being chased, healing and unhooking others, completing objective (gens) and finally escaping. Not wall licking and hiding in grass all game long.
Killer wants to chase survivors, hit them a bunch, apply preasure, get some hooks going, prevent objective from being completed and finally sacrifice as many survivors as its possible (although developers said that intended outcome of the game is average of 2 sacrifices). Do not camp the hook, that makes you waste your time and prevents you from fullfilling your objective in the game.

I didn't post this to argue with people. Your opinion is yours and mine is mine.
People will game the system regardless of what is in place. They always have and they always will. But for every 1 of them, there are 2 more that want to use that info for actual improvement opportunities. If they don't want people to game the system then delete ranks, pips, emblems, and scoring all together. But wait, they won't. Because there's people out there that like knowing "how they did" in that game. Which brings me back to the point of the post.

I would like to know how the bulk of the MMR is calculated, mainly because I want to offer constructive criticism, but the developers often don't take any of that into consideration, so it might be worthless in the end.

I am against them giving out the math tbh. What I like to know is some kind of shown number/rank tied to that MMR though. So that you can actually see, if you climb/fall and if that reflects the feeling of the games you had.
Also we could compare the MMR in postgame lobby. Currently we know only like 2 measurements. The ranksystem and if we can see the amount of hours someone has played the game. Both are not too accurate to know if the matching was good/bad. As well as improvements with further games played.

People used to purposely downrank for this reason anyway. There's no stopping that sort of thing.

Obviously you wont stop it. But it doesn't mean we should help them, does it?

lol. In any other ranked game people want to go up in ladder as high as possible facing the strongest enemies, why would here be otherwise?
Why do you think someone is intersted in playing vs boring potatoes? Complete nonsense.
well, i dont have math (i dont need it anyway, i would like to simply see MMR and mb top 100 killers ) but im having the easiest games of my life and this is not very fun.

Do you even read forum? there is at least one post daily, whining about how OP SWF rank 1 survivors are
I've seen STREAMERS with big audience (>1k viewers) deranking ON stream. I've seen bunch of derankers DCing at the beginning of the game or standing still. And you are going to tell me noone would abuse loopholes? Good joke sir.

Except with the emblem system, the info is right there on the results screen and we know literally everything about it. I don't see how knowing about the MMR system will change anything.
I think the main reason a lot of people want to know how the system works is so they can prove that it's actually there, because so many of us are running into wildly different groups of players. I have over 1800 hours in DBD, and faced a survivor with 0.7 hours yesterday. This is after 40+ matches as the same killer since the MMR system came in. If it works, surely we shouldn't be matched up like that.

Sure people will always try to "cheat" the system. Thats why depip squads exist. But why would you make it easier for them by litterally giving them "oh btw if you do this you will depip harder and faster" information. I am all for more information but there is a limit, and "giving the math" behind the mmr would be a very bad idea. Giving vague information about whats being used to calculate might still be too much but I am at least for that. Just dont give the information about, the actual calculations or the "weighted numbers" or anything specific in general.
When it comes to stopping people from gaining the system but still giving people a general idea of whats going on, vague/shallow information is the way to go.
Yes people in general want to go up the rank ladder in competitive games. In general. But I know so many people that would rather play easy games over and over and over than go up the ladder. These people exist and think thats the funniest way to play games. Demolishing people that never stood a chance.
Why do you think people make smurf accounts? Sure again, some do it to practice something different, against easier opponents and so it doesnt hurt their rankings. But a lot, and I cant stress this enough, a lot do it just to have easy games.
Ya gotta remember, that fun like so many other things is subjective. Playing fair and possibly tough matches might be fun for you and me. But so many people want "Casual mode". They say it is for not wanting to feel they need to stress over their performance or having to sweat to win. But I would argue that unless you remove the winning conditions entirely then people that wanna sweat or destroy casual players would just swoop in and wreck them for the fun of it.
