I think It's time to talk about Oni
Hi guys, Oni main here so, take this with a grain of salt and a LOT of bias ofc.
I feel that patch after patch Oni's power is getting more and more inconsistent.
It's not the activation bug (thank god they patched it) but it's his hitbox/aim adjust.
I've lost the count on how many times I've been cucked by the aim system 'cause the survivor was running hugging a wall or a loop, so the game decided that the Kanabo should hit it instead of the survivor (no jukes, no 360, no DH, just the aim going straight to the wall/box/any object).
In loops too, I know that the hitbox of the kanabo is really weird, but when I'm going to flick in some loops, even though there's nothing in front of me in the screen, it seems that the weapon hit the invisibel pixel of the corner of something.
What do you guys think? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks for ur time.

Wow I recently started playing Oni for the achievements and I noticed that aswell. I always thought it was just me being an absolute potato with Oni and the Survivors really good at juking but sometimes I was sure that I was on point with the aim but the Kanabo landed on a nearby wall / gen / tree or whatever...
Of course it doesn't help that I constantly get matched against red rank Survivors even though I played this Killer for the first time but it was exactly like that when I unlocked Deathslinger yesterday, ONLY red ranks. DbD just sucks at the moment I have no other words for it...

It is annoying how often Oni smacks things that are not the survivors when I have the survivors square in my sights ready for smushing.
Especially because if you miss with his big swing, he takes a year and a half (give or take) to shake it off and get back in the chase...

The Kanabo is highly sensitive when swinging. The community fought for this so Oni could do high degree flicks. Aim dressing walls is just a symptom of the flexibility of the flick.
My instinct is to tell Oni players to learn patience in moving during the flick.

So they removed the flick for Hillbilly but implemented the flick for Oni?
Makes no sense to me since Oni is already much easier to control and has more freedom with his sprint.
Thanks for the input, in future I will pay more attention to this.

Yeah, I know that the flick must be at least semi-perfect (if you flick and start "shaking" your mouse it has a better chance to hit BTW) but I'm talking about straight hits (not flicks) that still hits some object even though the survivor was in front of me, that's the kind of BS i'm facing rn

No no no my man, Oni always had the flick. They've removed it once, then Oni was arguably on of the worst killers in the game, so he got it back, but as @Steel_Eyed sayd, it's sensitivity is really high, it's really not THAT easy to hit the flick, it took me a time to understand it and get that sweet sweet 90º hit.

Woooow how dare you assume my gender in 2020!?! You know that people actually have been perma banned for using the wrong pronoun to adress a person? You've got some BIG BALLS there I must say!
JK, thank you for the info and that actually sounds like Oni could be a Killer worthy of "mastering" for me! nice

Look on youtube for ScottJund's Ultimate Oni Guide, it helped me a LOT.

Btw, BHVR really missed the opportunity to change his Kanabo into a freaking combat axe (or a two-faced axe) in his Minotaur skin.

Yep, Oni and Nurse have a lot of cucked hits in particular. They'll either miss despite the model passing through, or get vacuumed into a wall or piece of debris. I had an Oni match recently where I consistently span 20 degrees and hit the wall beside the window the survivors vaulted through (shack), another where I missed a demon bam bam lunge attack against a hold-W survivor (matchmaking, everybody) and I just played a match of Nurse just filled with phantom misses and me spinning 90 degrees into a wall for some reason.
Maybe it's an FoV issue with their powers that's messing with me? But I don't get the same from any other killer.

The survs that can do fast left and right sift constantly is making about 30% attack to miss cz of aim assist or what ever. This can be countered if you move killer attack aim fast in the radius of min 90° so that hit that last from killer can make swipe area instead of single point hit. Also other way to counter this is to wait a little(that can cost killer a chase) and see how surv wiggle while running and to predict side for next attack.
So about that to wiggle really good while running and to attack with swipe area attack is hard and needs some skill and later muscles memory.
About invisible corners or wall, ye sometimes it gets weird but more for killers than surv since surv hug wall and they change direction as soon as there is no more block. But i didn't see it before i get to play surv in those same areas. Examples, basement invisible corners that gets you stuck both side, some corners in rotten field same invisible pixel corners. At first i thought it was killer funny hit box but then i realise it is objects that you really hit them but in the heat of the situation and chase you don't pay attention to it.
Oni is good and need some skill to evade him if you are out of position. So the inconsistent of the oni powers is coming from the side that he is getting picked more and more and survs getting addapted more and more to him.

I've been playing a bit of Oni here and there over the last few months, and in recent weeks I find that when I hit a survivor with Demon Strike, I look up facing the opposite direction. It never used to do this.
As for hitting walls, I thought I was just bad as him...

The camera bug is well known and been for a while, at this point I think the devs just put a "feature" in him. I've got used to it but it's annoying 'cause most of the time It moves away from the infectious procs and by the time I get up from Bam Bamming they are already gone.
