What if survivors had unique talents?
I could also see this being a mechanic that ties with prestige levels. Like Meg runs 1% faster than other survivors, but if you prestige her it increases by 1% each prestige level, maxing it to 4% in P3.
Claudette could heal 2% quicker passively, and possibly up to 8% in P3, stuff like that.
I think it’d be cool if survivors did more than essentially be different skins, but nothing that would break any of the survivors or make one way more OP than another.

I totally agree, i think it would be great if something like this would be added, it doesnt have to be a big thing, but at least a little diffrence between survivors to make each of them unique

Don't you dare bringing back this dark age of claudettes everywhere. I like the survivor variety, I don't want it to be influenced by a "meta".
6 -
Immediately creates a Survivor Meta. (especially if Meg just makes 115% Killers into 111% and 110% into 106%)
So no.

I think it would add an unnecessary extra layer of balance. We would quickly see a sudden surge in a new meta. It wouldn’t take long to see who would be the meta loopers, gen rushers, healers, tanks, etc. I don’t think BHVR would do this realistically but it would be very nice to see. Not to mention we now have 23 survivors, it would be pretty interesting and difficult to see which survivors get which stat. I wouldn’t ever play Tapp if all he had was faster crawl? Maybe totem aura within 4/6/8? What would Yui have? Blood dries out x/y/z seconds faster? Kate would have what? Can’t really think of anything for everyone, ya know?

Great idea, I said this a long time ago actually. The teachable perks diminishes the characters. The teachables should be a weaker version on other characters. For example, a Meg recovers from exhaustion quicker, a David can dead-hard longer, Jake has a longer sabotage, and Laurie could DS one time at anytime instead of after hook. Nea urban evades like a ninja!
Would add tremendous and more value to the characters so they are not only skins!

That would be fine, only if the talents are relatively equal to each other. Otherwise we will have like 4 characters in all our matches.
0 -
And you would see only Megs, or Megs completely ignored and other players tunneled to death. :^)

The numbers could be shifted for the sake of balance. Instead of going up by 1%, maybe starting out at 0.5% and each prestige level increases it by 0.5 for a max of 2% extra speed? Basically wanted to give each survivor something unique to them without making any too overpowered.

4% may seem small but in practice it can make a painful difference, especially against 110% killers

Time to equip Hope >:)

As others have said, this would create a survivor meta and I don’t think you can create equal talents with the amount of survivors currently in the game and more to come. Also, your idea would force people to prestige their characters if they want to play with the same advantages others have.

BHVR has a hard enough time juggling the strengths of perks. I can't see it going well by adding even more to the big mix. I think a bloodpoint bonus would be fine per prestige, but not an increase to game mechanic percentages. Someone will find the best combo and then a new meta is born. No thanks.
And even with just bloodpoints, you're going to get a lot of complaining by those that didn't choose to prestige from the getgo.

We’re 4 years in. Would completely reshift the game.
What I would like to see though is the removal of “difficulty” next to survivors. It’s not more difficult to play one survivor vs another. It doesn’t even make the slightest bit of sense if you only used their perks

Well maybe not a Meg speed boost but perhaps we can bring back vacuum pallets with David because he strong boy.
Fair and balanced btw.

There really aren't passives you could give them that are both worthwhile AND fair, or they're so low values that there's no reason to go to the effort in the first place.
Like you said, give Meg movement speed. It's either significant enough that it's completely broken in conjunction with certain perks and against 110% killers, or it's so low that it doesn't even matter. Same with Dwight, a bonus to repair or co-op speed? It's either good enough that everyone wants it because getting gens done fast wins games, or it's so low that it's not worth it. In that case too, you have the issue of up to 4 passives doing the same thing working together.
It also creates a meta where certain survivors have a worse passive and so are not worth playing. People have invested millions of bloodpoints into characters they like and associate with, so what happens then? They get lumped with a terrible passive (like Quentin opening exit gates faster) and then you basically just lose all your work because now you have to invest in a character you don't like as much to not have a worthless ability equipped?
It's better that it just stays as choosing a survivor you like because you like them.

No, not at all. This would just make the same survivors appear over and over again.

Really, there's no need. With survivors all being the same, it makes it so you can play as any of the survivor roster without missing out on some buff. You can just play as the one you like, visually.

When Claudette is crouching and standing still (including camera movement) she becomes 1% more transparent every second up to 50% transparency.
2 -
Nea can have an extra two add-ons on her flashlight

I want that so badly. When people say "then people will only play certain survivors" I think of Friday the 13th. If someone really loves a character, from what I've seen they'll play that character despite how bad they are.

I think adding back the ultra-rare rarity but change who could use what perk would do nice to distinguish survivors from each other. From example, Only Meg can use the ultra-rare versions for adrenaline, sprint burst, and Quick and quiet or Claudette is only one who can use the ultra-rare versions of Empathy, Self-care, and botany knowledge. It makes it so at least if you want the best version of a perk you need to use the survivor that perk belongs to. Survivors will have to think more about their builds and weight which ultra-rare perk set up is better than another and make sacrifices of which perk they will run will be ultra-rare.

I think Survivors are so strong that having unique bonuses should come with drawbacks as well.
For example, Dwight would be the default, with no bonuses or drawbacks.
Being a professional in sprinting, which is highly agile but an inefficient use of stamina, Meg might have 5% faster vault speed when healthy but 5% slower vault speed when injured.
Being a healer who grew up sheltered and meek, thus with a low pain tolerance, Claudette might have a 15% base faster healing speed but make louder injury noises. (Yeah, screw you Blendette).
Being a survivalist who lives alone, Jake might do generators 5% faster by himself but have his co-op debuff increased to 20%.
So on and so forth.
The main problem with Survivors having passive bonuses is that people are so adjusted to Survivors being skins right now that removing this might cause some dissatisfaction. For example, someone who put all their bloodpoints and cosmetic money into Yui might be screwed over with attributes they hate, or the attributes someone wants might be applied to a Survivor they dislike.

This is a terrible idea. It would drastically decrease the variety in the game. People are lazy and only want to run the easiest, strongest things they can. If you try to make the survivors be anything but skins, you're only going to see the same survivors every match. Case and point, Blendettes.

Oh no killers have to keep in mind the different abilities their opposition might have. Truly such a cruel experience that a player must go through.
0 -
Wow you really have no trust in BHVR
0 -
Honestly this would be awesome, as long as survivors don't get anything too impactful like increased run speed or stun time. That would be impossible to balance.
0 -
It's just an example...if it's too impactful of course it wouldn't be added
1 -
What if like OP was suggesting, the buffs aren't impactful enough to form a community changing meta. The idea is to increase diversity by giving survivors a unique passive for you to experiment with if you want but it's also small enough you can ignore it and just play who you like.
1 -
I think the problem with this is that it will limit the amount of different survivors you see in a match, it would be mostly Claudette and Meg tbh.
I see a fairly wide range of characters in my matches right now, lots of Megs, Claudettes, Dwights, Davids, Janes, Nea's etc. Less so of Jake and Bill.

At prestige level 3 she should also get an achievement called hide and seek and and be permanently rank 1... That way she can just hide in grass, and not lose rank... I mean she'll still never learn how to properly play, but why should she?😂🤣
