gen tapping solution

u know how when u fail a skillcheck but keep going. the progressbar doesnt increase for like 2 seconds..
how about that being default. heck u can remove 2 seconds off of the total repair time for all i care. but make it so survivors arent able to gen tap and still get progress. minimum time of no progression should be the equal ammount of time till a skillcheck can be triggerd and failed. a second longer would be even better..

only other fix.. skillchecks can happen the same millisecond that u start working on a generator. with skillchecks becomming more frequent at that time the more times u started working on a generator.

this is easy possible.. if u chose not to do it. its just that. ur choice. ur choice not to balance this out.

All survivors that relied on gentapping as a crutch instead of learning how to hit skillchecks would go insane after this gets implemented. Ofc the devs will never consider that^^

they just made a full counter perk to obsession. to ds.
the devs are slowly starting to learn that survivors are overpowerd and are slowly balancing.
if u think a current exploit wont be fixed just cause survivors would complain. ur in for a wakup call

Agreed. Gen tapping is such a cheap strat I have seen to completely ignore killer perks. Either progress begins after a full 2 seconds of starting repairs, or no progress until a forced skill check towards the beginning, similar to Overcharge, but as a regular skill check.

I'm a survivor main, and I recognize what a scummy tactic this is. Gen tapping, or click spamming should have no benefits at all, and in some cases (like click spamming a flashlight), should actually make it worse for the person doing it.

I am ready to wake up, but I have been sleeping for quite some time now

btw, the new perk doesnt counter DS. It is a salt generating perk and you can even use it only against 1 DS while there still can be 4 DS in the game

I completely agree. I hate gen tapping...

You do realize that barely happens right? And it takes nearly twice as long to gen tap. Everyone in high ranks just pushes through lol we aint dumb

and do you realise that just doing a generator normally and not hitting great skillchecks at all. makes it take even longer sometimes? also it makes some players search the totem. wich then EVEN LONGER to finish a generator.. gen tapping is an exploit. its hated for a reason. just saying that its ok cause its twice as long. issnt a good reason.

It's an exploit you'll barely see used.

We hit the great skill checks.

We adapted after Ruin being present...every game.

    Gentapping is for scrubs!

Also, there's no real fix for it. Adding a delay would could a lot of problems (I think) and it's not the overall problem.

Frequently happens in low/mid ranks though where survivors dont hit great skillchecks.
The amount of gentapping I have seen while stalking someones ass, you wouldnt believe it

It could easily be fixed with forcing the survivor to do a skill check if the skill check sound appears. (able to be cancelled with running)

I don't see the issue. Gen tapping is overall a slower process, so Ruin is still doing its job at slowing down gen progression. The Devs have specifically stated this on stream.

Ruin isn't even needed by killers who know how to apply proper map pressure. So maybe instead of saying "survivors need to git gud at skill checks," Killers should stop using Ruin and git gud at applying map pressure.

    Just a thought.

    oh, you didnt know?
killers using exploids (like the clown gaining speed while always hitting the reload button over and over again): will be fixed within a couple of days / a week.
survivors using exploids (like gentapping): might get fixed after (how long does that exist? oh yeah....) two years.

Because it's such a major game breaking exploit that it requires instant fixing. If you have to use gen tapping as an excuse then you've got more problems than the gen tapping.

It's very rare I see anyone gen tap and when they do quite often they blow the gen up and or they get found by the killer paying attention. While they're busy gen tapping I and the others are powering through gens and laughing at them.

Then we usually have to go rescue them off the hook because they're so focused on gen tapping they don't notice the killer about to nail them.

On any of the small maps that have confined gen areas and someones doing that I'll leave because I know the killer will get them soon.

As a killer I love it when people gen tap especially when I don't use Ruin because they're not paying attention and it's a free Ruin effect.

Nothing like tapping a generator and running a mile away while still somehow magically hitting that overcharge skillcheck. Yes I hope this gets changed and a small delay would be so easy to do.

    1. im complaining about gen tapping cause the major problems are OBVIOUSE and already spoken off all the time.
    2. if they blow up the generator from gen tapping. then ur dealing with a bad survivor. gen tapping is working on generator and stopping befor a skillcheck CAN EVEN APPEAR.
    3. survivors not paying attention around them when litterly not having to pay attention to skillchecks is ALOT more likely then survivors staring at a generator wile knowing there wont be a skillcheck. this statment of survivors not paying attention. is just outright wrong
    4. on any of the smal maps. there arent alot of small maps. we talking about a problem that can happen on all maps. specific maps issnt a reason not to change it.
    5. if survivors gen tap without you having ruin. ur either dealing with troll/noobs or you outright lie. cause nobody gen taps if they didnt see the skillcheck yet.

    1. Most people don't seem to have an issue with it since it isn't very effective and takes way longer.

    2. So what, they stop before the skill check, they lose out on bonus points for continuous action. They lose out on bonus points for hitting good or great skill checks. They also can still get a skill check to appear which will cause a blowup to occur because they tap. Finally they take forever to do a gen sometimes 3 or 4x as long.

    3. No survivors not paying attention while gen tapping is true and you know it, I've seen and caught survivors gen tapping. They're so busy gent apping they don't pay attention to anything else. There's streamer videos out there of gen tappers being caught. Just because you don't like facts doesn't make them false.

    4. I never said it didn't happen on large maps, I stated a specific scenario that'd cause me to move on from that gen. The map size has no bearing on the issue at hand, just your use of it for your argument is.

    5. Ok where to start since you obviously have no clue what you're talking about here. The gen tapping happens at rank 1 even without ruin because some people don't want to do the skill check. It's commonly understood by most here that there's people at low ranks that don't belong there.

    2. if u still get skillchecks wile gen tapping. ur holding it down too long. the very reason for gen tapping's existance is that u dont get skillchecks.
    3. survivors not paying attention is just a lack of skill. if u experience players doing it at high rank. ur talking about people that dont diserve high rank.
    4. u stated that killers can patrol generators fast enough. not on large maps they cant.
    5. yes people dont want to do skillchecks with ruin on rank 1. cause they beleave its faster than doing the skillchecks. why els would the so called most skilled survivors. gen tap. they dont care about the bp. cause its not worth it. speed is worth to them.

    1. That goes for your comments as well don't forget.

    2. That was my point people still get them thus blowing the gen up because for whatever reason they wait too long.

    3. That was my point there's people a thigh rank that don't belong there, you'll see rank 20ish skills at rank 1. Whether those are boosted/bought accounts no one knows.

    4. Billy/Nurse patrol large maps extremely well, Hag is top 2-3 right now with her traps. Well played Doctors wreak havoc on large maps.

    5. True, but the des also announced they don't consider gen tapping with Ruin an issue in latest notes. Those are the people most likely to do it while still being a small minority. Those are also the people that don't belong at the better ranks either.

They'll probably add something in eventually for when Ruin isn't active or perhaps put an internal timer that says you have to be doing a gen 5 secs minimum for progress.

I think another thing people need to understand that gen tapping is essentially favouring the Killers side.

Killers are all about time management and gen tapping takes evidently longer (You're adding an extra 0.5 - 1.0 second extra/ charge due to the animation delay. 80 x .5 is 40, 80 x1.0 is 80. You're then setting the generator back another minute~ish) and therefore you're allowing more time given to the Killer for a chase and hooking.

With that, it means Ruin is being effective by slowing the game down. One way or another, the reason they aren't touching this "exploit" is because its seriousness is being exaggerated. Gen tapping is an ineffective exploit; unlike the clown's current one, and such, this exploit does NOT grant a competitive advantage.

They said as long as killers can dribble ds, survivors can gen tap. There is the ds change coming tho so who knows.
