Complacency Status Effect (?)

The point of this status effect would be to slow down the game's progression due to 'generator rushing.'

Complacency reduces action speed based on how often the survivor has interacted with the killer, either directly or indirectly.

There are a total of 5 levels of complacency that have varying effects on a survivors action speed. A level is gained depending on the survivors actions:

  • Level I: After 120 seconds of not interacting with the killer, the survivor receives an action speed penalty of: 0.5% to generator repair.
  • Level II: After 60 seconds of not interacting with the killer in Complacency Level I, the survivor receives an additional action speed penalty of: 0.5% to generator repair.
  • Level III: After 45 seconds of not interacting with the killer in Complacency Level II, the survivor receives an additional action speed penalty of: 0.5% to generator repair, 10% to healing.
  • Level IV: After 30 seconds of not interacting with the killer in Complacency Level III, the survivor receives an additional action speed penalty of: 1.5% to generator repair; 5% to movement speed.
  • Level V: After 30 seconds of not interacting with the killer in Complacency Level IV, the survivor become lazy in their complacency and receives an additional action speed penalty of: 3% to generator repair; 5% to movement speed; skill checks appear in random places on the screen; the survivor can no longer perceive the killer's terror radius.

There are times when the Complacency Status Effect does not accumulate:

  • When the survivor is within the killer's terror radius.
  • During a chase, and the 30 seconds following a chase.
  • After being unhooked during the 1st Stage of a Sacrifice, the complacency level of the savior and the sacrifice is reset, and you will not accumulate points toward Complacency Level I for 60 seconds.
  • After being unhooked during the 2nd Stage of a Sacrifice, you become immune to the Complacency Status effect. Your presence alone instills courage in other survivors, any survivor within 9 meters of you is also immune to the Complacency status effect.

A survivors Complacency Level is decreased through the following actions:

  • If the killer swings at a survivor and misses, their Complacency Level is decreased by 1.
  • Being hit by the killer removes two levels of Complacency.
  • Entering the dying state resets the Complacency status effect.
