im trying to save my challenges for when the next killer comes to the live server
so what im doing is i do my challenges and then save them
my question is: when do the challenges collect themselves
cause i kind of want them to stay XD

Challenges gonna stay forever. But when rift closes in 30 days you will not get rift shards and cometics from it anymore.

Yeah that I know what I'm wondering is when you complete the challenge but don't collect the rewards when do they auto-collect themselves

There is no auto-collect. You are free to save it untill new chapter release.
But dbd is type of game you never sure about your progerss is safe. So I wouldn't save rewards like this for a long period. If you lose your progress due the bug that could possibly appear with any update, devs probably not gonna help you. But if you not affraid of that you may try.
There is a lot of players that save rewards from challenges for later like you do.
