Please let returning players skip back to rank 15
I took a break for about a year and came back to both my killer and survivor rank being lowered back down to rank 20. I appreciate this for survivor because there had been a lot of killers added and I needed to learn how their powers worked, how their perks worked, and the new maps. Playing against new players introduced me to how they worked. When I played killer though? It's just not fair.
My understanding is that Ranks 20-16 are for new players to get a grip for the game. It's why you can't derank from 15 to 16, to keep experienced players from falling back in there and ruining the times of new players. It's a "safe" place for new players to be pitted with and against new players as everyone becomes familiar with the mechanics of the game and the maps. But as someone who took a year break and came back with my killers still having their tier 3 perks? It's just depressing.
I'm trying to rank back up to 15 ASAP, but every match I'm being pitted against people who care barely manage to look away from a generator while repairing it for fear of missing a skill check, so I yank the survivor off the gen successfully half of the time. I end up hooking two people and they both kill themselves on the hook, to the other 2 hide too scared to do anything. As soon as I finally manage to find one hiding and hook onem, the other DCs. After all that time I barely manage a pip. I now have to do that 15 more times. And since the game does everything it can to pit level rank 20-16 against each other, (Which is should) the que times can be agonizing at the hours I play. Even with cross play.
Each time I play a match I feel like I'm ruining someone's day and I feel awful. I know how hard it is to pick up this game with it being a perk based game, so doing it is courageous in itself, but putting them into a game with me as their killer is borderline punishment. I'm pretty sure I've scared away some of the new people who pick up the game and have me as their killer.
I love the idea of deranking to 20 if you're gone long enough to give yourself a space to get back into the swing of things and refamiliarize yourself with how the game has changed, but forcing me to slaughter all these new people just to get into matches where I'm playing people who know that I can see them run into lockers ruins the experience for everyone. Let someone who's coming back have the option to rank back to level 15, it'll help everyone involved.
