Lock survivor item selections before game start
I just had a game where all four survivors switched to blendettes plus toolboxes and one key when they were all random characters with no items previously.
This did not give me time to set my loadout, otherwise I would have brought Franklin’s and maybe a mori, instead I had to force quit the game during the loading screen to dodge what would have no doubt been a very toxic lobby.
could we lock survivor selections a little before the game starts to prevent last minute switching?

That's why the survivors will switch to blendettes last minute, killers dodge their lobbies, when they see them packing those items. If you quit the game once it loaded in you probably would of dodged the moment you saw the key and toolboxes.
There's also the chance they were spending bloodpoints on other characters before switching to their main, but probably unlikely in this scenario.

I pretty much never dodge lobbies like that, I only bring Franklin’s and something else to counter the key. I will dodge if they pull intentional last minute switcharoos as I have zero interest in going against someone who’s willing to be sweaty enough to both bring a key and prevent the killer from anticipating it

So hear me out.
I allways had this idea I've never shared with anyone.
Killers tend to dodge lobbies whenever they see a special amount of items which they don't agree with.
(Which I get. Going against 4 toolboxes can be frustrating with weaker killers in higher ranks - and as killer these days you don't have to wait for the Q to pop at all.)
But this is also frustrating for survivors.
So survivors kinda cheat on the killer by switching last second, which however is also stupid because the killer can't counter this picking different perks. (Let's just say for the fun of it: Lightborne, Franklins, Overwhelming Presence).
What about adding a big amount of randomness to all these monotone DbD rounds?
Whenever the offerings burn (loading screen) each survivor gets a fortune wheel that spins for each possible item + addon combination there is.
Good items have a low % of being picked.
Bad items have a higher % of being picked.
(Same with their addons)
You could also improve your odds by burning luck offerings and picking luck related perks.
And whatever gets picked ends up as the item you start with.
Thoughts?
"But what about the blood web. Usually you pick your items there, if you dont take them from trials?"
Yea I guess you would have need to rework it a bit, which I am all for. DbD is too much of a grindfest anyways.
"But what if my squad wants to take insta heals/BnPs/Keys to a trial?"
You could still do these shenanigans in a custom game. Go **** yourself trying to ruin some casual baby killers day.
"But killers could still bring moris, right? Biased!"
Those are offerings. Different topic. But yea, I'd also want them reworked.

Survivors don't get to see what killer or add-ons are being played going into the trial, and this is their only defense against perks such as Franklin's. I'd be fine with survivors being 'locked' before a trial, but only if nothing at all was shown to a killer beforehand as well. Certainly hiding the names and items of survivors would be an improvement to stopping lobby dodging.

Killer is clearly supposed to be able to build to counter survivor builds, otherwise killer wouldn't be able to see the survivors at all. The last minute switching seems more like an exploit than anything else, as killers SHOULD be able to counter with lightborne.
The counter is that if you notice the killer has it, just find a new item in the map and then the killer has wasted an entire perk slot on only really forcing you to switch items.
