Could we get Shards in The Rift?

The current rift offer 49 blank spaces in the free pass version and currently the only way to get iridescent shards is through leveling up your player level, so why not fill up these empty spaces with some shards?

Filling up these blank spaces with 50 shards each, we would have a total of 2.450 shards per rift, which seems like a fair amount. It's a guaranteed perk from the shrine

What are your opinions/ideas?

    I'd prefer shards to take places of that crappy square charms with different textures. No one uses them anyway.

    Shards are used to buy stuff that costs real money, its a good idea but i doubt it will happen.
