Auto Aim. What the actual [BAD WORD]

I'm not sure I could ever fully describe how frustrating it is to be playing killer, go in for a juicy swing on a survivor that looks like a guaranteed hit ONLY to be turned in a direction I'm not aiming for, and hitting a random object or just swinging through air.

Is there any way to fix this??? Is the auto aim just really really bad in this game?

They call it "aim-dressing" and yeah it seems to hurt you more than it helps.

lmao, I know the feeling. It happens all the time to me especially around corners.

The problem with aim dressing is that it kicks in BEFORE the hit is registered. In the stream the developers explained it, you could see a picture where the aim-dressing cone extends further out than the hitcone. This can lead to situations where aim-dressing thinks "This is gonna be a hit", but by the time the hit is registered the conditions are no longer met. Be it an object inbetween the killer and survivor, or be it the survivor doing janky zig-zag movement, making it humanly impossible to react as killer player, because it all happens in fractions of seconds.

A very easy solution would be to make aim-dresssing move your camera in the moment the hit is registered.

Aim Assist is weird. Some nights I never see it and others it’s every other swing. For me if it happens 3 consecutive swings in a row and it wasn’t deliberate (Survivor Juking) I immediately leave the match. On those 3 swings the survivor reached a pallet, extended a chase, or possibly escaped the entire chase. All the while objectives are being done. BS. Skip to next game. Don’t feel bad to leave a match as killer if you constantly get crap maps for your killer, or when the game lies. Killer is already a huge chore as is.

To mitigate this nonsense run Unrelenting. So when you do miss you recover fast enough to hit them again before they reach a pallet/vault. That’s the only solution I found. That, and to pray for it not to happen in a critical moment.

Next time this happens look what platform the survivor is playing on. It seems to happen more against console survivors or people with 80+ ping. Pc players and low pingers don't seem to grab the aim dressing.

I still remember the first time auto-aim ######### me. I was playing KYF getting the hang of killer when I stabbed at someone going for a hook save.. yet the game thought I wanted to attack the guy on the hook. So they run away, get BT, and escape. You can imagine my reaction.

I was told "welcome to Dead by Daylight"
