Yes, I noticed that. There are definitely problems on both sides for sure.

PainReliever is not wrong with any of his points, but for me his list is pointing out more killer problems then survivor problems while both sides have some issues. I like Otz approach to that topic a lot, even tho i think he is not right with everything.

I also heavily disagree on point one. You would need to rework totems entirely for example, when you could just smash them by passing them. I don't think there is something wrong with having interaction time at all, that is a pretty subjective description and not really a "main problem". I even know people that say "just let me sit on a gen for a minute please, goddamit!"

Agree with this being a pretty survivor sided view. Perks may touch killers as well, but that is not a 'killer view' as it touches both sides. He even mentioned it as downside that breakable walls are only killer interactions

Agreed on trash perks. Diversity is great, but they are too afraid of creating strong perks. For example, make Cruel create dead zones. Not time limited but constant. What do survivors do when they get chased with 1 or 2 gens left? Loop the areas where gens are done to pull you away from gens being worked on. This perk would help you with that, by creating deadzones for survivors as well, not only for the killer. I know this is very strong, I also thought so first thought. But I think it is far away from OP, survivors will know about it so not randomly running into death traps, and ofc you could adjust this by reducing the range to maybe 20m or whatever. But this change would actually increase the pickrate of this perk. It targets a specific issue killers might have, help them with it and be able to replace a perk like Pop, Ruin, BBQ or Sloppy

Agreed that killer powers became less creative (which is kinda natural as it becomes harder the more you do), but his rant is a bit over the top. I mean, Slinger = Huntress + Legion?? Come on...

His complaint about "rehashed killer powers" seems very biased. He implies that every killer after hag has some kind of similarity with existing ones. But then totally omits very unique killers like spirit, plague and legion. No word about Pig, Demo, PH either. Maybe I understood that wrong. But having more then 20 killers, of course there will be similarities. Comparing Billy/Bubby, Myers/GF, BIlly/Oni, Huntress/DS is perfectly fine, but comparing Clown to Huntress, for real? Freddy "another trap based killer", so what? HE plays fundamentally different to Trapper and Hag. If anything he should have compared Freddy to Clown. Claiming that Blight is just another Billy is also absurd, what a way to dimish the very unique and creative pinballing movement.

I don't think when he meant by smashing the totems that the interaction should take less time. I think he meant it should take the same amount of time but be more engaging for the Survivor, as staring at a loading bar is rather boring.

Same with breakable walls. I had seen someone mention that survviors should be able to build the breakable walls that the killers would then knock down. They wouldn't spawn already built. That involves some kind of interaction that would move survivors off gens and be more engaging for them.

He specifically mentions in one of his streams that he thinks Plague was the last 'unique' killer. I believe he omitted them because he believes those killers are indeed unique.

He said "kicking over a totem to destroy it". That sounds like he expects an instant action to me

I highly doubt that. He was likely making fun of how the interaction looks. PainReliever is pretty intelligent. I'm sure he realizes how unbalanced something like that would be.

He states half of them have rehashed powers, so about 10. So which 10 should that be?

Billy / Bubba? They both mave a chainsaw that can insta down, but play fundamentally different. Whatever, they use the same weapon, so the latter (Bubba) has to be a rehash, right? (Why don't we just treat all killers with a knife as similar, so GF, Pig, Legion, Clown and Trapper are all the same! /s)

Myers/GF - Ok, both stalk to get the survivors exposed, so I thats a valid rehash complaint, imo.

Billy/Oni - Both with High mobilty and Insta-Down, but Oni has to collect blood orbs for that. Lets be lenient and consider this a rehash as well.

Huntress/DS - Both are slower and ranged attack killers, but that it with the similarities. But whatever, rehash!

Nightmare / Clown - Not mentioned by poster, but they are similar in chase, with both slowing survivors down. But thats only when Freddy uses snares, and his teleport is totally ignored. Whatever, rehash (of Clowns power, since Freddies rework was later)!

Demo/PH - Demos shred and PH power can be used similarly in a chase, so PH has to be a rehash. How else should I get to the 10 killers the poster mentioned, right?

Trapper/Hag - Both have traps! It's ireelevant that hag can place them directly without having to pick them up, her traps do not damage and she can tp to them.

Legion / Blight - Both can run fast!

Spirit / Plague - They are both female!

There, half the rooster is a blatant rip-off /s.

But seriously, claiming the half uses a rehashed power is utter BS! Yes there are some killers more similar to each other than others, but thats mile away from half of the killers. Just because two killers can run fast or have insta-down does not make them a rip off of each other!

Yeah he sounded very survivor sided. Complaining about moris without so much as mentioning keys.

He spent a lot of time talking about rehashed killer powers as well.

  • ToxicMyers

Which isn't a only killer issue. Rehashed killer powers can make survivor games boring. And I don't even agree with him on half the 10 killers have rehashed powers

Same with perks and the relative lack of new gameplay mechanics... There is no reason to make this a killer main vs. survivor main thing. PainReliever is just stating his personal opinions. Who cares if his top 5 are three things that impact both sides and two things that mostly impact survivors? You agree with his points, so that should be enough.

Who said I'm making it a survivor vs killer argument. If you make a video saying problems with DbD I expect you to say problems on both sides, not just ones that affect you

He did have problems on both sides, as I pointed out. Your insistence that the split be even is what is making this into a survivor vs. killer thing. It's just a guy's opinion, and we both agree he makes good points in this video. The first line of the video is even "In this video I'll be sharing five problems I have with Dead By Daylight" - he's clearly speaking for himself here, and is not attempting to make a comprehensive list. I don't know a lot about PainReliever, but even if he plays more survivor and therefore is more bothered by problems on the survivor side, so what? If his points are good, his points are good. No need for a "What about killers?"

  • ToxicMyers
    ToxicMyers Member Posts: 1,295

Then he should've put the title as something different. Like 5 problems I have with DbD. Right now I think its clickbait. Although I do agree with some of his reasons, I don't agree with all of them. He said problems with the game, and last time I checked this game has 2 roles. I think if you are making a list you should state things on both sides and not only problems you face.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You should make a video about problems for the killer side in DBD and post it to the forum so we can also have that perspective :)

I don't need to. Otz has already done a video that covers issues for both sides. And unlike that video if I was to make one I would be talking about both sides, since I experienced and witnessed issues on both sides

Does anyone have a good idea how to spice up the gen repairs? Should we play DDR with the W-A-S-D keys? I can't think of a good replacement to holding M1

Bruh that's an amazing idea, let me play DDR to Myers Tier 3 music. Playing with a Guitar Hero controller will finally pay off!
