New player general feedback (long post)

So far I brought half of survivors at lvl10 and killer at lvl5 and I'm lvl29; saying that for the perspective.

I never expected to be balanced, that's the point of an assymetric game, but I had maybe too much expectation about it, I found out it was a grind fest and both gameplay are heavily reliante on perks, that came as a disapointment.

1)The matchmaking...

...seams completly broken, I remember starting the game and playing with survivors and killer who had all their perks purples,... I felt that as really unfair. That make the entry step pretty tough.

I don't understand the point of the need to unlock perks slot, is that a rpg game? no...

you already got to unlock perks and rank them up so.

so far I find the game tedious because I fell like it's a necessity to grind to get the required build and when I look at the endgame play on vids it's seams completly another things.

Balancing an assymetrical game is already hard, why are you throwing into it also difference in access to perks and such, this just give end to those with higher level characters who got already more experience in the game and already are more skilled and that make your matchmaking system even more hard to manage!!?

The point of a pvp game is to enjoy a pvp and for it to be enjoyable it require some degree of balance between players.

I think that the unlocking of perks slot and even the grinding of ranking them it completly irrelevent to the game by itself, unlocking other character perks.

Unless you make a matchmaking bracket based on that...

first bracket players without character with 4 perks unlocked (bellow level15)

second bracket players without unlocked perks from another character.

third bracket players the remaining players.

But doing so might reduce the available players in a bracket and increase queue time, all those aspect are just counter productive; a pvp game as already to balance the game itself, and get a critical mass of players for the queue so that players can actually play, if you had to that a ranking of players around there skill level, then hading more things just make the matchmaking a nightmare.

I really believe that Bloodweb should be used only to get the consumable item and offering and addon, you might had into it irridescent shard, instead of giving them each player level, and make all the teachable perk unlocked with it.That's another point dunno how that work,... I unlocked 2 traits so far in the shrine of secrets... but don't see it anywhere it feel disappointing, so much grinding for nothing again.

The game would be better if it would be really about pvp, not getting perks advantage in the matchmaking broken system.

2)the hooks

The other aspect that I found disappointing when I first played was the Hook system, I was expecting that each killers would have a personnal mechanics of killing survivors, or there is some perks or addon that allow it.

It just felt odd playing mike or ghostface that way.

the concept of horror-theme is to build up fear and despair, getting put into dying state over and over and hook is kinda I dunno trivial.

The pig got a nice mechanics to put to end players, I think that most killer should have that instead of the hook mechanics.

the hook might remain but not as a final end but simply as putting someone on a hook to bait other survivors or uild up torment to them so that the killer can finally come to the kill. Having 4 survivors on the hook would cause a win by default of anyone to rescue the hooked survivor.

But you might stay on hook indefinetly, you couldn't escape by yourself tho, perks would allow it, but not by default.

I like the idea of hex:devour hope and rancor.

Maybe a mechanics where the survivor have to "struggle" against the killer instead of against the entity would be funnier. The killer to kill would have to spam tap the key aswell to kill.

the survivor couldn't escape, just delay its death, allowing other to come to the rescue.

I don't think that player by default should be allowed, but you might had up baseball bat or such which would allow to strike a killer in a struggle with another survivor and stun him, and rescue the victim.

Perks might enable to stun in some circumstance.

There is so many possibilities, which would be more immersive and interesting then just being hooked struggling against the entity while the killer is watching you.

3) Limited action and counter-intuitive gameplay.

the inability to perform many basic actions is ennoying, and require you to learn the map instead of trying to find way to survive, which (from what I see in vids of endgame) lead to some exploits.

that you got to fix with things like the entity locking after the third vault.

Why the some killers like the shape cannot toss/destroy some obstacle, destructable wall are nice for that, would like to see more of it.

so many obstacle cannot be climb or vaulted, I understand and agree with the idea of not allowing jump action so many game end up into bunnyhopping, but many mmore things should be destructable by the killer and not really count as obstacles, so "juggernaut" killers should even be able to pass through pallet and destructable walls relentlessly.

finally I had many other idea, for new killers: the puppet(chucky), the poltergeist(evil dead); the clown is pretty disappointing dunno why it's not more build on pennywise(it). well I'll stop there and would make separate post for those instead.

TL;DR:

1) Matchmaking is broken...

as a killer with only 1 perks I faced survivor with all 4 purple perks !!! #########

as a survivor I was with other survivors like me and the killer with all perks purple!!!

not all the time but that happened, often.

1.2) Perks slots unlocking and perks ranking is grindy and is inho an unnecessary element added to the matchmaking imbalance.

2) Hook mechanics for the killer's win is disappointing and boring, as a killer and as a survivor.

which lead to the face camping.

3) There's a lack of action that the survivors can do, cannot climb nor vault over simple white wooden garden fence; solide bush that we cannot pass through, cannot creep under a bed or bellow a desk, cannot press ourself to a wall to sneak.

idem for the Killer too many obstacle that cannot be toss or destroyed, tossing up a bed to look bellow, or kick a trashcan in fire. Paperwall in japanease house aren'T supposed to offer that much resistence to even survivors.
