Oni Buff

Why does Oni need a buff?

As of now, Oni starts as an m1 killer, and has quite literally nothing helping him to get his power. Currently, at a passive charge rate of 0.2 charges per second it takes a lengthy 500 seconds for Oni to get his power without blood orbs. As an m1 base kit 115 killer, you have nothing helping you in chase. Assuming that the Oni is chasing a survivor, 3 generators will already pop in 80 seconds, 2 generators will likely be finished 60 seconds later assuming that 2 people double up on one generator (45 seconds), and then go to help the other survivor who has already started a gen. In total, this is 140 seconds of the 500 seconds Oni needs for his power where the game is essentially already over. Because this is unrealistic I'll add an extra 60 seconds for time to get on generators which then becomes 200 seconds of the total 500 seconds. The reason this is able to happen is because Oni has nothing going for him in chase as an m1 killer, and the survivor getting chased can just throw down pallets and vault a few jungle gym windows.

How the devs should go about buffing Oni:

It's a pretty simple change. Oni just needs to start the match with 90% of his power gauge filled.

How will this change likely effect gameplay for both sides?

Instead of the lengthy 500 seconds for the power to passively charge at the beginning of the match, it will take a much shorter 50 seconds. This way it gives the survivors time to figure out who the killer is and be prepared, but also gives the Oni a chance to use his power to get ahead of good survivors during the match.

This also creates an interesting dynamic where survivors know that the Oni will have his power soon so they need to try to split up the map at the beginning. If they're able to outlast his power it is actually the Oni's fault for either activating his power without seeing a survivor or not having enough skill to use demon dash to down a survivor. Once being unhooked or picked up from the ground, Oni will be able to start re building his power up with blood orbs and the trial will be fun and interesting.

The survivors can try to stop the Oni from getting his power a second time by quickly healing each other. This way, both sides are rewarded for playing well.

Counter-Arguments to this change:

Argument #1 - A 115 killer has an easy time getting a hit on a survivor.

This is only true when the survivor player either makes way too many mistakes or simply doesn't know what they're doing. This change to Oni won't make gameplay for newer survivors feel much different or too overpowered because Oni would've likely gotten a hit that quick into the match vs unskilled survivors anyway.

Argument #2 - Oni can catch survivors out of position.

Oni has a 32m terror radius by default which is 24m with the perk, Monitor and Abuse. With how easily trackable Oni is by survivors (loud footsteps, big model, appealing visual effects, large terror radius, etc.) it's completely on the survivor for being caught out of position.
