Devour hope revealed on M2 attacks?

I have gone against a successful devour so little that I wonder about this. Say you get to 3 stacks of devour and then use your M2 to down someone, is it revealed to the team? Or can you hide it until all 5 stacks?

That's actually wrong, I just tested it ingame.

Although it would have been pretty hilarious to end a game like that by popping a surprise 5 stack devour on someone.
