Friday the 13th Shutting down, now we can have Jason?
Maybe with the elimination of Friday the 13th game the licensing for Jason might be a little easier? Also, is anyone surprised that Friday the 13th support is officially ending?

I don’t think the game really made it anymore complex or anything.
the issue is the license holder vs the creator and some (US American?) laws that gave the creator some right after so-and-so years.

While F13's competition being gone is a good thing, the bigger problem is the lawsuit. I'd say don't hold out hope until Chapter 22 or something.
15 -
the lawsuit is over? or are they still? I recently read an article that jason blum wants to restart the franchise on friday the 13th, maybe not today, not tomorrow, not the day after, but it will come, if we have icons like michael myers, freddy krueger, leatherface and ghostface, there must be a possibility that jason I arrived in some chapter 22 or 23

Shutting down but it's still exist.

Sadly, no, not for now. That lawsuit is still kicking around so until that is 100% done and over with.
6 -
The lawsuit is the issue. I haven't looked too into it but I think it has something to do with the creator of the first Jason. The kid Jason. He felt the character became more popular than anyone could have predicted and he wanted a bigger piece of the pie. The other IP owners told him "No one pays to see kid Jason. Our versions are the ones that make the money" so they told him to pound sand. Then he took them to court saying all their versions of Jason are built on top of his creation. Until the lawsuit is settled I count Jason as impossible in DBD.

That's not how it works. They'd need to license the character from Horror Inc or whoever have the rights to the character. Otherwise, Jason could appear in as many games as they allow. For example there was Killer Puzzle, Mortal Kombat, and his online game.

Never a good thing tbh, DBD needs competition. Like desperately
19 -
I never said it was good for the game, I said it was good for F13s chances of being in the game.

DbD has competition. The competition just sucks.
11 -
From what i understand, they could bring in jason as he appears in every movie after the 2nd one without using the name Jason or his mother, without permission from the original creator. It would end up being like Ghostface with an original character under the mask or the guy from the 5th movie that was a jason wannabe.
I just think with such an iconic character they would want to get all the details. Otherwise it wouldnt really be Jason.
2 -
Kid Jason as in 2009? Or something else?
0 -
Nah, you know how the OG had pamela as the killer? And there was the dream sequence where kid jason tore through the canoe and pulled allison down? That kid Jason.
6 -
Its too good to be true, Jason is the only huge licensed character left that isn’t in the game
1 -
Oh... Okay, wait why are they arguing over that BS, of course people would say the adult Jason is more popular than kid Jason, that Jason did jack before he became a killer and grew up (Somehow). If this is true then what is the point of this lawsuit?
1 -
Well, the writer Victor Miller got paid Jack all for the series, despite the fact he created Pamela and Jason. So now that the series is uber popular he wants to be paid more than 5000 bucks for his involvement, the director Sean S Cunningham said no. And now the rights are a giant mess.

Victor Miller want's more money
0 -
How would his power differ from other basic M1 killers?
0 -
Let him turn into Mist for 2 seconds. This allows him to walk through pallets and vaults. Like a half ass Nurse :P
0 -
He could have a weapon swap mechanic that has him swap between varying tools like a machete, axe, pitchfork, spear, ect. A mechanic that him slam people into the environment like he does in the game. A new take on already existing mechanics in the game. Honestly, how would his power not differ from other killers?
5 -
Most people don't even know Jason wasn't even the killer in the first movie. Let alone he didn't get the hockey mask until the 3rd movie. Sure everyone pays to see the adult Jason. However all versions of Jason are built on top of Victor's creation. So he has some reason to justify wanting more income from his work.

not happen anytime soon.

Lawsuit’s still active and F13’s not dead. It just won’t receive any more updates. You can still play it.
1 -
Okay now I see, and yeah I can understand shy, it is kinda weird he wasn't really credited for making the franchise
0 -
He was credited in the movies I believe it's been awhile since I seen them, but I'm pretty sure I seen his name in the credits I could be wrong. It was more he didn't think the franchise was going to get as big as it got and when it did he wanted more money a raise in so many words.
1 -
I wanted to like that game but an omnipotent being that has friends on the survivor team makes for a terrible experience.
It's like playing Among Us and you're the odd man out in the friends group. You don't get to play.
3 -
That game was great the first 2 months before it fell apart so hard and fast. I wish the lawsuits would get cleared up to free the option to add Jason to other games
1 -
The game is dead, but the lawsuit still.
3 -
Sounds like its not happening anytime soon. But... What would his powers be? I'd say he's 110% speed but his m1s can break pallets and doors as fast as chainsaws. Not sure on actual power though...

Pinhead, Pennywise, Candyman, Xenomorph and probably more, do not approve.
3 -
No.No.No.
0 -
Perhaps his power is anger, because if you have seen the movies of Friday the 13th, with each stun, like being shot, cut, burned, drowned, etc. It is becoming more violent and I imagine that if he "got into dbd" he would have a base terror radio like michael myers and every time he lurks a music is heard but in this case with ki ki ma ma

pumpkinhead

still sounds like a Trapper without traps, so what's the point? Smacking people with a different weapon isn't changing anything gameplay wise.

The game isn't shutting down, only the dedicated servers are, it will be back to the way it was when the game first came out and how this game used to be Peer to Peer play. The game is still playable and on sale. There's also a Lawsuit over the rights that both killed the game and movies. plus still isn't resolved.
secondly I don't want Jason in DBD at all. He has his own game. and deserves it.

KId Jason as in the 1980 original movie. The writer of the script legally took his rights back and wanted to make a new deal since the franchise was damn successful and made a ton of money. Horror inc said no, you don't have those rights and we're going to sue you to stop you from doing that. in 2018 the court ruled that the writer Victor Miller has the rights to the Original Friday the 13th film in the US. This cased a problem as to who owns what and also what counts as a derivative work. Also Horror Inc appealed the decision so until that's resolved nothing can happen.
The whole thing killed content for Friday the 13th: the game and any officicial movies in the franchise.

I'm kinda sad honestly. This game could have a great potential like among us.

Turn into mist and pass through walls :P
Any female Jason gets a hold of gets their clothes torn off. Seriously he's kinda infamous for doing that.
Cover a large section of the map in mist, making it harder to see Jason.
Who knows what they could do but if it isn't viable at red ranks I don't want Jason in here. If he's going to be another M2 killer for survivors to bully id rather spare him that embarrassment.
1 -
So does the writer I'm gettin literally rewriting the F13 franchise with a kid jason?
0 -
Don't really care about the guy, but after all this time, it'd be cool to finish this 4-year long story with: "Ladies and gentlemen...We got him!"
6 -
Myers is essentially just a big guy with a knife, yet the devs translated it into a multi tier system.
If they could do that, I’m sure they could make swapping weapons a unique mechanic.
Mix that in with Jasons signature rage and his tendency to destroy environments and he could be a super cool killer.
And if thats not enough for the devs they could also pull a PH and give him a unique power never seen before.
3 -
i love how people think this game was the issue for not getting jason, it's the lawsuit the issue and it's far far from over
4 -
You say that while Killer Klowns from Outer Space isn't in the game either.
1 -
Dead by daylight should get it
0 -
may never happen because the lawsuit may never end and really I don't want him in anyways but people want what they want.
0 -
No. The writer who made the first Jason. The one who drowned in the lake as a kid. He feels he should get more of a cut for setting the foundation for the character. So he's taking the IP owners of FT13th to court.
1 -
OKay thnak.. sorry this whole time it was confusing AF

Business needs to move on at some point, and dedicated servers can be a hassle to support, especially for a game that cannot expand under legal issues. The game can still be played, but it is only receiving one big last update, while also reverting to peer to peer servers.
The lawsuit is still ongoing though, so BHVR isn't touching the F13 license until that is cleared up.
1 -
Yeah baby give .us another killer to bypass pallets with short teleports

Wasn't it quietly settled earlier this year? NECA went back to making figures of him and I saw merch in plenty of stores for Halloween.
