Disconnect penalties

As much as I want to write a long winded, thorough, swaying post to try and support my argument here? I fully realize the devs don't really listen to players outside of surveys to begin with and even if they did? Some random person nobody's ever heard of posting one thing wouldn't make them act anyway.

SO HERE WE GO.

The proposition this time around is a request that we /please/ consider looking at removing disconnection penalties from the game as a whole or at least limit how oppressive they are. I was just in the middle of a match that I was actually quite excited to see playing out with a Hillbilly on Grim Pantry, lots of potential for a fun game!

Until my internet dies as I'm running through a field because for some reason one of my two connections is wildly unstable and my pc inexplicably decided to connect to that rather than my usual. I didn't want to DC, the game had only really just started maybe a minute and a half ago and I'm being punished for something I didn't want, didn't do and had no control over. The other night? My dog's in with me playing around and being silly, accidentally knocks my pc over and the fall was enough to kill my pc. Had to figure out the issue, remedy it and come back to see I lost pips and had about 30 seconds left on a ban. I'm not going to lie and say I never disconnect from matches because I absolutely do. If I'm playing killer and 3 object of obsession gamers send me to an indoor map? I'm not going to sit and be tortured through a game that just makes me want to uninstall because the devs would rather people be bored than have fun.

Why removing it would be beneficial:

We all know you really aren't stopping people from disconnecting from the game. People still do it, I've seen multiple people DC in games the past few days and they didn't have a care in the world regardless of what their reasoning for it was. They did it and probably just went to make a sandwich and watch youtube while they waited out the timer. You enforcing punishments for disconnecting is quite literally just telling players "We know what is fun for you, you don't know what you enjoy. Play every single match to conclusion or we're going to annoy you with the inability to play."

That's not going to stop people. That's actually just a potential to push new players away who are still in low ranks and deal with the rampant camping/smurfing/bad matchmaking that goes on down there. They'll try disconnecting, see they get punished and try to avoid it. And then they run into huge frustrations time and time again and can't leave (assuming they play killer).

Survivor players have it easy with your disconnect penalties because they can just kill themselves on the hook and laugh in your faces because you physically can't tell if someone just missed the struggle key or not. Killers on the other hand? They have to sit through every single match whether they like it or not. Whether it's fair or not. Whether it's /fun/ or not. Your game isn't even remotely balanced. Why are you trying to force people to sit through games if that's the case? As killer I can just go sit in a corner and wait for the match to be over but survivors will sit wasting both my time and theirs for as long as possible because yay?

Your system is awful. People will either just sit through the timers, kill themselves/afk or uninstall entirely. You're not stopping anyone. You're just annoying people.

Thanks for reading my kinda lackluster post. It's not nearly as long or detailed as I'd like it to be but what can you do? I don't care enough about these devs or this game to invest more time into rationalizing my thoughts in text form. Have a great day.
