A suggestion for the BBQ problem.
What is the BBQ problem, you ask? BBQ is probably the most used Killer perk in the game, and based off of that information you'd think BBQ needs a nerf/rework. However, BBQ is not unbalanced or OP, and any nerfs to it would probably be unwarranted. In fact, I would argue BBQ is the perfect perk, because it does good for both Survivors, as well as the Killer.
For the Killer it's pretty obvious: it gives you good information after hooking someone, and doubles your bloodpoints. Fantastic. For Survivor though, this is also great, because it encourages Killers to not do the two things that are most frustrating and boring to go against, camping and tunneling.
If you want all your stacks, you're gonna have to hook everyone at least once, so tunneling is discouraged. On top of that, all Survivors that are far from the hook are shown to you, so camping is discouraged. Like I said, the perfect perk.
However, it's still a problem when one perk is run all the time, because it essentially limits Killers' loadouts to 3 choices. On top of that, any other detection perks have a hard time competing with BBQ mostly because of the bloodpoints.
I have a suggestion that according to me, will not just solve the BBQ problem, but more as well.
Remove the bloodpoint stacks from BBQ and WGLF, and make it a default mechanic. By default, hooking a Survivor for the first time gives you 25% additional bloodpoints at the end of the match, up to 100% additional bloodpoints. By default, performing altruistic actions as a Survivor gives you 25% additional bloodpoints at the and of the match, up to 100% additional bloodpoints. BBQ and WGLF will keep their primary effects, and will still be good perks to run. But they will not be required if you want good bloodpoints. Making the ability to double your bloodpoints for playing well and fair default will not only encourage players to indeed play well and fair, but it will also help players, especially newer players, with the grind to level up. Lastly, this change will also increase perk variety, especially for Killer, since players will not feel required to run BBQ anymore. Thus solving the BBQ problem.

For reference I posted a poll a few months ago that asked forum posters if they would use BBQ and Chili if it had not bloodpoint bonus and was just a tracking perk. It got something like 100 replies with a 50/50 split between people who would not use BBQ without that bloodpoint bonus and those who would still use it just for tracking. Basically as a tracking perk it’s ok but other perks are probably better, it’s really only as widely popular as it is because of that BP bonus.
