Demon Dash attack strikes randomly (mostly empty spaces)

I'll have a survivor right in front of me, I lunge to attack, and all the sudden my guy decides to strike the wall beside him. This has happened multiple times during a chase. I'm not sure what is going on, but it's easy to recreate. Just play the game and use the oni's dash attack. Sometimes it works, but often he'll do a 180 attack a random empty space. If this is an exploit, it should be addressed quickly as possible.
This happens about 50 percent of the time, usually after turning during a dash.
