Tunneling and camping really makes no sense to do.
As a survivor and killer main both, I can agree that at some degree killers have to tunnel and camp to get someone out of the match. I have recently observed that people over do it to a point it becomes unbearable and unfair. Tunneling and camping to the point survivors just kill themselves on hook is really not a viable strategy.
As I play killer I try my best to make sure both parties have fun, but as I play survivor I can say that killer really controls the match. They can run full slowdown builds or run only chase perks, this also comes with the addition of being able to camp or tunnel to remove the desired survivor. Therefore, as a result of the overuse and abuse of both tunneling and camping, the survivors would run DS or BT to try to combat it. It gets even more heated when a killer gets tea bagged or literally clicked to death to the point of which they get tilted.
One thing I don't understand is that some killers will tunnel toxic survivors and face camp or proxy camp. This, however, can throw the match and basically only earn the killer with a 1k or 2k and only a handful of bp. In fact, I fully understand the anger of toxic survivors and the satisfaction of downing, hooking, and camping them. Although it can be very pleasureable and satisfying, you basically throw the game as you're not patrolling gens and interrupting survivors progress. As you proceed to camp and tunnel, you waste a great deal of time and then get gen rushed as a result.
In another point, good survivors can take advantage and try as best as they can to waste your time and then zoom away with adrenaline after all 5 gens are done. Also, DS and BT exist so even more time wasted. Slugging is definitely viable, but again unbreakable and soul guard exist and relieves the pressure you built, and as a result could lead to a very basic and annoying game.
As a conclusion, tunneling and camping are huge time wasters basically throw the game if you are going against average or better than survivors.

Tunneling can be beneficial IF you know what you're doing. Remember when you eliminate that one survivor the game heavily slows down.
You just need to understand when and how you tunnel someone.
