Delay your DLC and some advice from a long time fan.
A harsh title I know but please take this as constructive criticism and advice.
The latest dlc was by far the most fun I’ve had for over a year, your team has done a lovely job on really pushing themselves and deserve to have their work shown in its best condition. The gameplay is across the board very enjoyable and shows you can think outside the box. Balance aside you all did great work, now I’ll post what’s wrong.
While I understand it’s a business and people need to be paid the latest dlc showcased to me your designers really want to do new things with the experience they now have. What’s wrong is either time constraints or poor testing, Victor while fun, needs a whole new mechanic which was either discovered last minute by poor testing or lack of time to polish him.
I feel like Blight was just released and here we are with a new killer, I’m not ungrateful but I really mean this, I would rather 1 less killer a year to give your staff time to polish their work and not have ideas slashed to meet a deadline. The trouble with Victor I’m sure is eating away time from the next killer and it just snowballs from there. I’ve made 3 games and I know time crunch exists but please take this into consideration before you dismiss me.
Why more time will make you more profits and how.
Your design team has weeks of extra time to do their work and reach a level of polish and they can experiment with ideas more. It builds hype, as I said, Blight is brand new, he is still keeping the game fresh and the new dlc coming now is going to jade players fast as there is no hype. Please think quality over quantity, let people see a teaser and speculate for a week or so. It’s half the fun. Nobody likes seeing a half working killer, it’s even worse when you get just 2 weeks to fix things, it’s not fair on the staff either. Give them time and useful feedback by good QA testers.
my final statement on the QA department.
you obviously play your game, but you have to please listen to your fog whisperers. They should be your QA team signing an nda to not leak anything and let them use their game time hours to truly help your staff make balance changes. I do please emphasise MATURE fog whisper members. Be it Otz,True,Puppers or stream dad you need to let them help you and show you where the problems are and catch these problems earlier.
closing. I met lovely friends on Dbd and have had the honour of meeting you in person at Pax east. You’re very open people and I hope you take this advice even as just a thought on how to avoid this stress in the future. Best of luck and hope the dlc goes well.
