Fruitcake charm

For those who don't know, the Fruitcake charm is going to be distributed by fog whisperers during streams and videos with in game codes which have a limited number of uses.

why? WHY?

This is the Dwightcrow charm all over again, and I get it, it's a way of supporting less-known fog whisperers, but I think that many people are going to be upset about it, because honestly, it's bullshit.

Yes, there are different codes for PC and Console, but that doesn't solve the issue: people are going to stress themselves to get a code, and even if you watch every stream and every video it's not guaranteed that you'll get one since each code can be used only by 10 people.

I know it sounds petty ("It's a charm, who cares?") but I remember how I felt while trying to get the Dwightcrow charm, and no, it wasn't a nice "treasure hunt" feeling. It was stressful, I was jumping between streams and youtube videos with the game open in the background trying to catch a code, and I clearly remember the "Oh jesus, NEVER AGAIN" feeling when I finally got one from a stream.

So please, PLEASE find another way of distributing these kind of codes in the future, like a treasure hunt of some sort, or giving each code a time limit instead of limited uses, or even simply giving the codes a higher number of uses (I'm thinking hundreds instead of 10)

These charms are basically legacy all over again. People still ask for legacy to come back, years later. Legacy skins are technically just recolors. While charms aren't the same as equippable outfit pieces they are not recolors at the very least - they are inferior in some aspects (being a charm vs. being outfit piece) but superior in others (new model vs. recolor).

I don't think the current system to distribute them is a good idea for that reason.

A better option would be to unlock the event charms for everyone after the event ends, with the option of unlocking them early if you get a code from a streamer. For the cake charm that means you could get it up to a month before everyone else, when it unlocks for everyone in January. That way it's still special but no one has to feel pressured to watch streams just to get it.

They need to stop with limited use codes. Limited time would be fine, but limited use just breeds frustration and resentment. If they want people to watch streamers have the streamers give out something not exclusive like BP or Iridescent Shard codes that are good for everyone watching the stream and have them expire after a day.

Totally agree with you. The fact that the charms were difficult for console players to get was only a small part of the problem. The other issues you mentioned, namely the fact that it was not fun, it was stressful and discouraging the whole way through for the majority of players, that it rewards fast typists over dedicated or skillful players, not to mention the fact that it was exclusionary not only to console players but to those with disabilities as well, have not been addressed at all.

I'm really surprised that they did this again with how few people actually responded positively to the whole DwightCrow debacle. Yes, plenty of people were happy when they got the charm, but it was relief, not enjoyment - the kind of happiness you feel when you get a huge project done before the deadline. Just because you're happy you did it, that doesn't mean you had fun or that you'd want to do it again.

At the very least they should've made the charms universal if they were going to this again and continue doing it (both the Dwightcrow and Fruitcake are killer exclusives), something that takes possible hours and days, and you can't even use it on all the characters (like I have a fruit themed Nea with Melonade Head, Pineapple Shirt, and a random pants piece) and I can't even use the Fruitcake on the Fruit Girl.

That's just one of my complaints, everyone above has said the other things way better than I could
