Bring Social Interaction Between Console and PC Players

So we all know that it's been some time now since Cross-Play has been enabled.

Currently, I feel like there is a huge barrier between PC and Console Players when it comes to social interaction.

I have come to the conclusion that having no chat option(s) with a rising console community, is unhealthy for the game. This is my personal opinion. In my four years of playing this game, I have enjoyed speaking to anyone in lobbies and making spontaneous DbD friendships. This is now less common.

I for one, would love to see some more social collaboration between console and PC players. Are there any plans to have any social interaction between these platforms?

Thoughts?

Please god no, social interaction is bad enough with other console players

I would enjoy being able to talk over the platforms so much! As a console player, I have no way of reaching out and thanking someone for an amazing run or for a good game. It makes me incredibly frustrated sometimes.

Please explain what interaction exactly you are referring to @chieften333 ?

@HeckaYeah see you seem like a great player! It's a huge bummer that if we were to get in a game together there is absolutely nothing we could do to play again in the future. The DbD friends interface feels a little futile..

The vast majority of messages I've gotten on PS4 are salty players. With maybe one or two neutral comments in the entire notification section.

Plus, to put it lightly, PC players aren't exactly known for being nice in the end game chat.

@chieften333 I don't think it's fair to generalise all PC players like that.

And messages from where? You cannot communicate internally in DbD and think you've missed the main point of this topic sorry

Tbh, since cross platform. I think it would be healthy for the game to remove the end game lobby entirely.

Lol Id rather have an option to limit my crossplay entirely to just consoles.

Sometimes its not fun going against the 5k hours played PC player thats getting 120fps, is streaming on twitch, and looking to add me to their YouTube highlight reel

What PCer is going to wait thirteen minutes for me to type in anything beyond GG with my controller?

  • Member Posts: 1,775

I don't entirely see the harm, but have you ever typed anything on a console? Lol

Most console players aren't going to mess with a keyboard.

Playstation people have a phone app to act as a go between, but I doubt most will deal with that, either.

    @JPLongstreet you'd be surprised!

@Rebel_Raven I own various consoles. Yes I totally get that it's harder than a keyboard but all it would take would be a "gg" "add me" and that's it ?

  • Member Posts: 6,620

I truely would. I send messages all the time on Xbox for this game, but anything beyond a GG takes time and if I'm a group I have to tell em "hold on I'm confabing with..." and holding up the works.

Plus I believe again the devs said in the Q&A that keyboard support isn't coming anytime soon. Not that I even have a keyboard at home to plug in .

I mean is that all you want?

I don't believe it would be all we would get.

I agree about wushing for console only Crossplay, but it'll never happen. I put up a novel-sized response on another thread listing exactly what I think about console performance and Crossplay...

@Rebel_Raven regardless of what it is.. there is lack of interaction between both platforms. I hope to see something happen in the future regardless if it's public chat or not

dont bother me i dont even read the endgame chat. too much toxic behaviour.

Not everyone out there is salty. It's just a game at the end of the night, and there are people why okay it purely for fun. Don't let the jerks get you down

Who cares if people are salty honestly.

Occasionally people can be irritating but like, that's just life.

I play on PC and I often play with crossplay off JUST so I know I'll have the opportunity to say something to the killer at the end even though I say absolutely nothing 95% of the time.

Sometimes I want to ask the killer a question, give them a tip, or just talk about the match.

@SkeletalElite same here. I agree. I hope to see some social/friending options between these two platforms soon

@Bloodwebs on switch I don't seem to have an issue friending cross console. If you ever wanna try your luck at runing gens let me know. Who knows, maybe we've already made a run or two.

Honestly is there an update on this topic? I am SO OVER playing against console players and would rather not disable cross-play. They all face camp and tunnel the hooks as killer or just ruin things as survivors. How are they supposed to get better as well? Really unhealthy for the game..

It would be good for them to get some tips in end game chat or something :)
