Camped and tunneled for finding a green key in a chest
Just after I opened a chest and picked up the key the wraith uncloaked next to me and tunneled till death for finding a literally useless item I just wanted to stock in my inventory. Isn't it fun.
why cant broken keys have a different color or models it's so goddamn stupid when the items got gaphically reworked and devs knowing the hate and fear towards keys, they simply reused the same for all key rarities

How do you know they tunneled you because of the key?
maybe the item was irrelevant for the killer. Tunneling is a valid and (sadly) very strong strategy, that almost always is beneficial for the killer if the tunneled one is not the strongest looper.
edit: there is also a key rework planned and coming which may nullify the need for visual differences for keys

he literally said "######### you key claudette" in post game chat

The Wraith doesn't know what color the key is... :)
7 -
that's why I made the second paragraph?
6 -
Has happened to me as well, that's why i never pick up green keys from chests anymore.
12 -
I didnt think the killer could notice because I didnt have any in lobby but apparently he saw it
1 -
I hope they remove broken keys during this rework. I mean other survivors could also follow you around because they think you are going to open hatch 😀
5 -
Since I've recently ran a face camping build with this item I hope they don't touch it lol

I saw your second paragraph. They don't show the color of the keys for the same reason they don't show the different colors of the other stuff. If I knew someone had a Green Health Kit I might hit them first. :)
2 -
the other stuff is suposed to have the exact same form, exept broken key, which is described as a broken key but shows as a full key not broken ingame.
Also the rest of items do the same in every variety, while the broken key, literally does nothing

Maybe if killers could see the difference between different types of items....
Maybe if all medkits didn't look the same. All toolboxes. All flashlights. All keys....

I think the lesson is if you find a green key, don't pick it up. It's more trouble than it's worth :P
10 -
And he also saw that you didn’t have plunderer and found it not on purpose.
but now you hate on the devs for implementing the broken key the way it is instead of the killer that tunneled you for no reason but to make your experience miserable.
1 -
Yup, leave that key.
I won't pick up a green key. Not worth the risk.
9 -
There is no reason to pick up a broken key, unless you want to be tunneled.
4 -
The killer had a reason, a possible free escape in the possibility the key was red or purple instead, but the devs didn't implement anything to diference them.
6 -
It’s not a free escape. But we don’t need to argue about that, key changes will come.
maybe even with differences between those key variants.

Yeah, I mean I might focus someone I see find a key mid match but you HAVE to a lot of the time. You have to know where they are at like all times and play around it you don't have a choice. So if I can get them on the hook more I will.
That being said yeah, green keys should just be invisible or like....a neon green or something idk, I don't see why a broken key can't just be in your closed hand and be invisible since it's so small.

Does it really matter what the reason you were camped and tunneled is? There doesn't need to be a "legitimate" reason; it's a valid playstyle that the devs say is okay if that's what you want to do. I mean how long have you been playing this game at this point? 2-3+ years? If you haven't accepted that you will occasionally be tunneled and camped while playing DBD then I'm not sure this is the game for you.

This content has been removed.

You missed the point entirely.
It's not that it happens, it's that it directly leads to it happening when it otherwise most likely would not have.
All because it forces an assumption it is something that it isn't. A killer might even throw a match trying to counter a key that isn't even a threat, so I mean no one is really winning in this situation hence the desires for some changes on this matter.

I have dominated many red ranked matches only to find the last two key out (via chest key) many a time, to the point where I will tunnel you if you bring a key. At rank 1 those hooks can cause me to depip.
Don't use keys until they rework them. If I see it midgame I will immediately tunnel.
0 -
Same. I stopped taking green keys because if killers sees key in hand they will tunnel you out of the game even though if it was pink/purple a teammate could pick up the key after you die and one less gen needs to be completed to use it.

I would have thrown the Key on the ground, or not picked it up at all.
If I was a Killer and saw you had a Key, I would have tunneled you, too.

Situations like this is what makes dbd fun and exciting.

Yeah unfortunately if I find a key in a chest I'll pick it up and drop it off somewhere for later, if it's a green key I don't bother since most every killer will tunnel or camp you out of the game (I understand why).

I've had this happen to me. I will say it's fair for a killer to tunnel the key holder but it's unnecessary to be mean in end game chat over an item that you found from a chest during the match.
It shows the maturity of some people when they decide to be like that but eh it's just bound to happen.
I do hope the key rework will either make all keys not threatening enough for killers to tunnel over them or that they give green key a unique, broken model so killers know it's unable to open hatch.

The broken keys use the same model as a fully intact one. For all he knew you pulled a pink key
1 -
If you wanted to meme on him you could have taken the green key to him and placed it at his feet as an offering so he knew it was green and that you were meming.
Honestly I don't see why anyone should ever pick up a green key unless you used ace in the hole and it came with aura reading add ons otherwise it's literally a curse to pick up lol

This is my impression of everyone who uses a key; when they realise they are going to die anyways:
Literally every time. It's the best, and it's why I always play against keys. Taking franklins is great too, because it forces them to constantly try and pick it back up, wasting time.

I see a key in anyone's hand I'm going to go do anything to from getting the hatch

Given what keys represent and the detriment they can be to a killers game (3 survivors can escape without completing their objective), I fully support tunneling keys out of the game. They had no way of knowing it was a green key. You took that gamble the second you picked it up.
When I play killer and see a key, at any point, that persons fun in the match has reached it's end.

But the whole purpose of a broken key, as useless as it seems, is to make the killer think it's an actual key and make him focus you. If they made it look different from the rest broken keys would literally have no purpose. Just don't pick it up if you don't want an LED target in your forehead inviting the killer to facecamp tunnel you.
I think they are fine as they are as it's a niche way to distract the killer.

No, its purpose is to have more time of use than the purple key for addons in exchange of the ability to open black locks
1 -
I like gifting green keys to the most useless teammate
0 -
Keys are generally pretty unbalanced so the killer is FORCED to remove the key holder as quick as possible to have a small chance of winning. The fact that you got a green key and you were treated like that is unfortunate, but honestly not surprising at all. If you find a green key in a chest I suggest leaving it and run far far away

He should haven't wasted so much time on me he ended only with me dead, he even ignored the people who rescued me and got Make your choice.
0 -
these are tough times my man, killers can relaly be showing any mercy
0 -
I understand the fear for keys but is not worth camping and tunneling, I ended the only one dead
0 -
"Tunneling is a valid and...very strong strategy"
In purple and red ranks this is categorically false. All that does is give three survivors who haven't been hooked plenty of time to do gens.
