Modding Could Bring New Life to DBD

I know I'm not alone when I say that playing this game has begun to feel repetitive. Dead by Daylight has one game mode, one place for both casual and competitive players to go, and looking forward to the release of one new killer and five new perks every three months does not feel like a substantial deviation from the repetition anymore. Yes, I love new chapter releases and updates as much as the next guy, but I want to be able to do something more with all of the content that's been packed into this one game mode.

This is where new game modes and mods come in.

Games like Garry's Mod, Left 4 Dead, and even Overwatch have provided an array of tools to their player base to create exciting content all on their own. There are 0-gravity modes, custom modes like GMOD's "Prop Hunt", 300% speed modes, alternate team setups (ex. 2v8 instead of 1v4), and that's not even mentioning the mods available for Steam games. Hell, GMOD came out almost 2 decades ago and it's still kicking because the developers opened the door for player innovation!

BHVR well aware that DBD's custom game mode is underutilized. That's because it's not a custom game mode, it's just a private match for practicing with friends, or maybe, maybe even a regular game, if you can gather up four people. You can fiddle with a couple of settings here and there, but nothing worth calling customizable. With the aforementioned games, their custom modes have public and private lobbies. How fun would it be to have 2 killers up against 8 survivors? Or to have a solo game just to practice throwing hatchets as Huntress? Or, if BHVR decided to be generous, custom chase music -- even if it's just for YOUR game and no one else's? (C'mon, who hasn't wanted to hear the Benny Hill theme as the killer's terror radius.)

Custom game modes keep games alive through player innovation. There's nothing to lose by adding custom game modes and modding; if it can be done while still monitoring for cheats, by all means, please let us have it. I'd do almost anything.

Maybe it'll even lessen survivor queue times.

ScottJund made a YouTube video on this sort of thing today, I'm glad I'm not the only one talking about this.
