Flashlight blinding

Recently I got into a match with David with a purple flashlight(and battery addons). He could blind me while I was moving and also while chasing him. The flashlight blind always started way too early(less than 1s) and my attempts to flick the camera didn't work. How is it possible?

Hard to say without video evidence.

It could be that either one of you (or both) had bad connection to the game server which resulted in you having blinding displayed with delay - flashlight blinds are validated on survivor's side.

Keep in mind that all the existing flashlights regardless of used add-ons share exactly the same blinding timings.

Can the increased brightness effect of purple flashlight cause the blind to appear faster?

    No add-on alters blinding timing.

Beam brightness is actually visual brightness of blinding effect on killer's screen, which is completely useless.

I have observed many a times that increased brightness addons blind the screen faster(not taking into account total blind time). Also these addons don't give much room for player to evade the blind(they cover pretty much the entire screen compared to normal blind). In my playthrough I have found that increased brightness is very hard to evade.

It does not affect blinding timings, as well as any other add-on. This value is a constant.

I was talking about how fast the blind appears on screen compared to normal brightness flashlight not the total time.

As long as you are not actually blinded, it's hardly relevant. The time gap you have to turn away and dodge it remains the same.

It is not, that's why I made the post. It always happens to me that whenever someone brings purple flashlight or flashlight with brightness addon, even if they slightly point the flashlight at you, the whole screen gets covered in blind compared to the normal flashlight. Then trying to look up/down or flicking the camera doesn't work at all! Just check it out with someone. If you don't want to believe me it's fine but I don't think arguing will change someone's experience.

I'm not arguing with you, I just know how it works. If you want to question it, you are free to start your own investigation.

I did investigate it that's why I said the above things. Some people have also complained about it. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/123655/has-insta-blind-flashlight-been-acknowledged-by-bhvr

In steam forums people have told me how broken the flashlight can be at times as well. If you don't don't want to agree with me it's fine but don't think that what you say is the ultimate truth when in experience of others it's not.

It keeps getting worse day by day, how people are getting the blinds so easily. In the last match my ping and the user's ping were perfectly fine but still I got blinded in less than a second.

The thread you linked is over a year old, as well as the bug it refers to (which did indeed exist).

Besides its direct fix, since then two major flashlight reworks were released as part of 2020 patches, messing both aim and timings and fixing them back again.

My explanation refers to flashlights' current state. I am not aware of any new bugs and I doubt they could appear without any dbd updates in place.

The bug still exists though in a different manner(blinds in less than a second).

Whatever floats your boat, I guess

If you feel like you encounter a bug, record it and make a post in Bug reporting section; worst case it will be tagged as "not a bug", so it's a win-win scenario.

I think not many users have complained or acknowledged it so it may have gone unnoticed so far(maybe not everybody would be experiencing it as well). You can test it, if you want.

    What do you mean?

As I've tested all of it in KYF, watched most guides on that topic and run fl daily in every single match I play, I'm rather sceptical towards an unproven claim of a fl-related bug coming from someone whom I don't know.

If someone is experiencing a bug or a problem why do you keep discrediting it and trying to prove it wrong?

Did I say what I was experiencing is a fact? Did I say that everyone is experiencing it? No. But you keep trying to prove me wrong and yourself right like you know everything. According to you what others say is false if it's not acknowledged by reputed people or authority.

If you don't have anything productive to say please don't. I came here to ask about the above topic not to argue with you. You like getting yourself right I get it. If someone doesn't agree with you, you try to prove them wrong again and again. If you are sceptical about claims from people whom you don't know then don't bother answering them, rather then continuously arguing.

    I'm done arguing with you.

    Kindly re-read the thread, please.

The answer to your question was given in the very first comment. The whole discussion that followed was fueled by either additional questions or doubts in provided information, both coming from your side.

Please leave me a right to take new information on a topic I once fully investigated (and have thousands of hours of experience in) with a grain of salt, particularly if it comes with no evidence. It doesn't negate the possibility of you being correct, but I'll stick to a critical mind perception for now.

If you keep experiencing awkward blinds, make a video record and submit it to Bug reporting section; Ask the community is not the right spot for this topic then.

I would also ask you to do the same. Problem is you don't believe that you are wrong, ever. Nobody is asking you to reply to me. You unnecessarily replied to me again and again with the same thing again and again. Stop arguing for god's sake. You may be the lord of dbd but please don't keep proving it here. I had only one doubt after your answer and after that I just stated my experience which you constantly kept negating. You have some issues dude. You want to prove yourself and your facts right all the time. Do i have to ask you to shut up or not reply?

I didn't know if it was a bug or a feature at first but came to know now that it isn't a feature. It was the right section when I didn't know about it.

I've read it as if you are claiming a general bug rather than some awkward personal experience/perception, and suggest me to test it (which I did).

English is not my first (nor second) language, so if you meant that as an expression of doubt or a question, I did not understand it; I'm sorry. I was quite possibly arguing with myself then. The only thing I was trying to do is to help; don't get irritated over a forum discussion with an idiot like me and move on.

Maybe it's not happening to you, maybe it's only happening to some players like me(like I said earlier).

You are trying to help but you shouldn't be too fixated in your beliefs. I was not trying to prove you wrong, but you were trying to prove me wrong that's where the problem comes. I would have moved on if you were not being adamant or being more accepting towards other's experiences. Rest regarding the bug report I have already submitted it to support and forum after you told me to do so, I just didn't mention it.

If you think you encountered a bug, please do check the bug report section (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs), if the bug has already been reported, just upvote it, otherwise report it following the guidelines.
