Breakable Walls Rework | New mechanics and More Interactivity
This new feature, which will soon be present on all maps is not particularly popular and in general its idea sounds too simple. In most my matches Killers break only infinities-walls and don't touch other ones.
This is of course due to the killer's lack of time to do something, but the survivors have more "free" time, so how about giving them an ability to interact with the breakable walls? This can greatly diversify the gameplay and I would suggest doing something like this:
As a survivor you can break walls with the Toolbox or Perks.
Standing next to the wall while holding Toolbox or having the "Saboteur" perk press and hold the button to break the wall.
- It takes 16 charges to break one wall
- Breaking a wall with a perk takes 15 seconds.
- Breaking a wall with a toolbox without addons takes 10 seconds.
- Head On now can be used to break the breakable walls (1.5 seconds stagger effect)
- Toolbox add-ons and perks can increase wall breaking speed.
Breaking a wall will be accompanied by sounds and animation, at the end of which the wall will break and a loud sound will occur, informing a killer with a notification. Wall breakage progress remains.
The broken wall will look like this:
Survivors now can build walls in places where they were broken before.
The animation will consist in dragging these parts onto the passage, blocking it.
The repaired wall will look like this:
As you can see, there are extra planks and it's not that simple. My idea is that rebuilding the walls wastes time, which could have gone into doing gens or cleaning totems.
Also, repairing the wall will not be an easy process as a couple of pieces will be missing. I personally couldn't solve it myself, but it can be done in two ways: there are will always be 3 missing parts or randomly from 1 to 3.
These parts are scattered all over the map and can be picked up by the survivor even with an item in hands (survivor will hold the plank in left hand). The survivor can hold no more than two planks in left hand at the same time. Survivor will move 5% slower while holding 1 plank in hand and 10% slower while holding 2 planks in hand at the same time.
The repaired wall can also be broken by Survivors and Killer.
- Any survivor can rebuild the wall.
- To rebuild a wall, stand next to the broken wall on the side where the wall parts lie.
- Building the entire wall will take 25 seconds (18 without 3 missing planks). Progress remains, but the Killer can reduce it by kicking it off.
- Toolbox and perks can increase wall repair speed.
- Each Wall can be repaired only once.
- To break a repaired wall as a Killer - hit a wall by clicking M1. Hitting a repaired wall will break a wall and will slow a Killer for 2 seconds. After slowing the Killer can walk with normal speed. The Killer will not receive a stagger effect when hitting an unfinished repairing wall.
- To break a repaired wall as a Survivor - Press an Active Ability Button while running. Breaking a wall will stagger survivor for 2 seconds. (Animation included). If Survivor break the wall outside the killer's terror radius, the killer will receive a notification.

Phew.
I like the Idea of survivors being able to do something else then Gens, but I dont like this Idea.
- breakable walls were a poorly designed implementation (Imo) so why even build on it further?
- Its just not worth it. 10% - movement speed just to rebuild a wall? thats just so bad, nobody would ever do this.
- Its not worth it, games go by like 5-10 minutes, this would take so long for like nothing. why rebuild a wall if you could do a gen?
Nice Idea, but not for the current state of the game.

- To correct mistakes. Do you suggest we just leave it as it is? Removing the walls is also not an option, it is no matter how, the work done.
- This was done in order for the runners not to do everything, if they want to run from the killer, then let them run. In any moment they can just throw planks. If it is really that punishing, then I can just remove it.
- This is another goal - to slow down the game with interesting mechanics. Although, maybe I really did not take into account the fact that the survivors should be given more reason to break and build walls.
Thanks for feedback!

This is definitely a LOT of mechanical complexity just for breakable walls.
If I was going to suggest Survivors get breakable wall interactivity, I would probably say allow them to sabotage breakable walls by knocking out a hole through the bottom of them, and implement a new animation (like vaulting) for moving underneath through the hole. Crouching under for slow action, sliding for fast action.
Props for putting effort in for the graphics, though!

Breakable walls deserve at least some love. Your ideas are cool actually.

idk there are a few super survivor favored walls like on pre school and saloon.
unless they rework those maps survivors shouldn't be able to break walls.
