how i would redesign spirit without nerfing her
a friend of mine asked me if i could redesign spirit but retain her core identity, how would i do it? and after a week of mulling over it this is what i came up with
Yamaoka's Haunting
The spirit can use her power Yamaoka's haunting too Phase walk, increasing her speed or flicker between ours and the ethereal plain.
the spirit has 100 charges of spirit power that are consumed when she uses her power the spirit recharges 5 charges of spirit power per second (so 20 seconds to fully recharge)
special power: Phase Walk
tap and hold the power button to charge over 1.5 seconds and begin Phase walking. Whilst Phase walking the spirit will dash forward at increased speed leaving behind a temporary 'husk' the husk will fade away after two seconds. the spirit will consume 10 charges of spirit power per second when using Yamaoka's haunting (10 seconds of max duration) the spirit can use her power Phase walk so long as she has 50 charges
(note, she does not turn invisible when Phase walking and therefore can still see survivors)
special power: Flicker
press the alternate ability button to enter the ethereal plain and become invisible for 1.5 seconds the spirit cannot see or hear survivors while invisible but can still perceive scratch marks. the spirit will consume 20 charges of spirit power with every use of flicker. flicker can be used as long as there are 20 charges of spirit power
(note, the spirit no longer has a passive phase. flicker can be used during Phase walk as long as there is enough spirit power)
the idea of these changes is that it doesn't nerf her but increases the interaction between the survivor and the spirit allowing for more opportunities for counter play and mind games from both sides
she can still use her original power by using both abilities at once so say if you use her power at max spirit power charges and decide to use flicker 3 times during the phase walk that's 4 seconds of high speed and 4.5 seconds of invisibility (her original power lasts 5 seconds) the main difference is those split seconds of visibility between the uses of flicker. so from the survivors perspective they see slight images of the spirit as she approaches them every 1.5 seconds or she can just use flicker to fake the direction she is going sort of like how pre-rework freddy mains used his power whilst survivors were falling asleep (yes they did exist)
the spirit can use just the Phase walks 10 second duration as map mobility though she will have to wait awhile before having enough charges to use it effectively in chase
she can do the stand still mind game by timing her flicker after two seconds to match the husks disappearance though at the risk of losing the survivor during the 1.5 seconds of invisibility.

I don’t mind her current power all the need to do is either give the survivors more tells she is using it or give the spirit herself less ways to track

That wouldn’t do much and it fits her lore. Make it a fixed time like Freddy and make sure the spirit is aware of it

I feel like you're over complicating it.
If you really want to change her give her a flicker of visibility every couple seconds while phasing (similar to what you said). She can see the flickers as well to try and play around them. Addons may improve the time she can go between each flicker.
Now that she has a pseudo tell of when she is or isn't phasing added, give back her old window vault, mid phase collision and reduced cd on her ability since it isn't as reliable now.

She doesn't need a change, I'm not a great survivor and I could loop, duke and stun every spirit I went against even on red ranks

People need to chill out regarding the Spirit, play enough against her and you'll see it's not that hard to predict where she's gonna go.
Most of the times she'll try to intercept you instead of phasing right behind you, you can even use perks like QaQ, Iron Will and even Spine Chill to counter her.
If anything she just needs to deplete her entire power gauge when she comes out of phasing, it's dumb that the Legion has way more punishment whenever he f√cks up but a strong killer like her can just keep using her power with no real punishment.

While this is a creative idea, all they need to do is reverse that bug fix that was in the game a little bit ago. We don't need a complete rework.
Whenever she would walk past you during phase, you could hear her. This gave survivors time to react & mindgame with her. That's literally all they need to do, add audio cues. It's honestly a shame they patched it because she was balanced for once with that bug.

So Spirit can see survivors while she’s phasewalking? That doesn’t sound like a good idea. Yes the survivors can see her as well but she moves almost twice as fast as survivors while she has compete control of her movement. You’d have to make her movement janky a little with a fatigue to make that mechanic fair but that’ll just make her another Billy/Oni/Blight/Nurse gimmick, which we don’t need more clones of other killers. So, this won’t work. Besides, that’s missing the whole purpose of what Spirit is supposed to be. She needs to be invisible because she’s a ghost.
Flicker mechanic sounds interesting, but it sounds like it’ll be a little too complicated to implement. I feel like a lot of people keep overthinking when brainstorming a Spirit fix. All she needs is a vague indicator she’s phasing with a power recovery speed of around 10 or maybe 12 seconds regardless of how long she was in phase.
