DS just became a bigger issue to me
My biggest issue with DS wasnt necessarily it's stun being used. My issue with DS was that DS survived into the EGC if I played around it, essentially, prior to the change, DS either was a 5 second stun to guarantee it being out, or slug/ignore that survivor around it with the assumption you'll get the third hook soon enough.
Right now, survivors have the option to deactivate their perk at will, which might seem fine at first, but if that survivor is confident they would be caught and lose DS when they could tank another hook stage instead while their team can open the door so he has 60 seconds DS left. That is a guaranteed escape right there. I know I rather would save DS as late as possible in the game.
Let alone that I could give a killer a false sense of security by quickly gentapping during a chase to lose DS so they are more confident in picking me up the second time and basically forcing a DS to happen, where otherwise the killer would have played around it. I think while DS may have been made impossible to use for annoying survivors who just act like they are invincible, it has been made more powerful for survivors who already love to bully killers. And I rather have annoying than toxicity.

Counter point they could always do that just by not hitting it but why would you not do that because you may not get the chance to do that again

You know you already could do this by just not hitting the skillcheck right?

If you want to save DS, you can already do that right now - just dont hit the Skill Check and you have your DS after the next Unhook.
That DS now deactivates when the Survivor is tapping a Gen does not really change the possibility of saving it until the Lategame.

Not hitting it would DISABLE the perk for the remainder of the match, not DEACTIVATE it. The perk used to only DEACTIVATE after 60 seconds so it can be reused, now it deactivates whenever a survivor wants.

If you let it pass without hitting g any button it will save it for later
3 -
That's DISABLING, I am talking about DEACTIVATING. And no, the only way to deactivate DS was to let the 60 second countdown pass on.

They can just not attempt the skillcheck and save it for later anyway though.
Hitting or failing the skillcheck deactivates the perk. Not even attempting it (not hitting spacebar/the skillcheck button and letting the skillcheck expire) doesn't consume the single use of the perk.
EDIT: lol not surprised that in the quick minute or so I got distraced this was pointed out by others, but yeah

Nope, not hitting it just deactivates it and it will be available after the next Unhook. You just need to make sure to not hit anything, aka missing it by pressing the Button too early/too late will disable it, but not touching any buttons and just letting the Skill Check go through will deactivate it until the next Unhook.

People can already save DS by just skipping the skillcheck on their first use. If it is not a problem right now I doubt it will be in a future. Also taking a hook stage is a pretty bad idea IMO, no guarantee that you will get to use it in the way you suggest.

Everytime I did, DS was disabled. Not deactivated.

Whatever you want to call it - you are wrong on that one.

Everyone, the OP is pissed that DS is still avaliable during EGC. Not about saving DS for later.
OP, get over it. BT is the same thing. Take the L.
3 -
You have gotta be the only killer complaining today. Today is a good day, my friend.
5 -
Well, I literally did this earlier this week, got disabled, not deactivated. Guess I must have been unlucky with a bug then, cus I never tried it after that.
0 -
Eh, DS never was a problem to me, gen regression has always been.
0 -
But your not complaining about these changes, correct?
0 -
You were obviously doing something wrong then.
DS was never disabled if the skill check was not attempted.
Your OP makes no sense.

I don't care about DS during the EGC. My only issue with it was getting punished for doing my job effectively.

welp, if you read on slightly further, you could have deduced that I simply had a bugged game when I tested it, and since I made the assumption of the game always working as it should, causing me to have a game where DS was considered triggered even though I had not. Which, was not an issue I ever would have thought could even be a problem.

Eh... personally I never had a problem with DS being a strong endgame perk, since saving it during the match is a gamble.

If you didn't eat their DS the whole game and still only hooked them once or not at all the whole game, then I do think they deserve a free escape if they manage to go open a door before you down them. That's you underperforming.
0 -
Not really, there are 4 survivors, odds of you hooking someone only once is practically 100%. Heck, odds of you hooking 2 people only once while 2 people are dead or dead on hook with 3 gens left is quite common. All survivors then need to do is wait with triggering their generators and pop them in quick succession for a DS play to be made. Let alone that you cannot always eat a DS(Ormond for example).
As long as gen regression is the way it is right now, you cannot always blame underperformance. Some maps are simply too large with massive genspread that can only be countered if you focus all your perks on gen regression and hope survivors arent good enough against the killer you picked, or settle for a 2k. I normally dont need to worry about DS at all as its part of my playstyle, but the very few times I do worry, the map and RNG are already heavily against my favor.
You shouldnt have a game where the map RNG, map size, gen spread and gen regression are already against your favor have a perk that allows you to bully a killer. Same applies to survivors, except that survivors at least have viable counterplay against the vast majority of killers. DS surviving so easily into the end game when DS is designed to prevent killers from rushing kills is bad design. Thats like having NOED that can trigger before the EGC without survivors being able to cleanse a totem untill they finish all gens.

True. Back in the days with the old DS it was a strategy to save it for later. It could catch many killers off guard.
0 -
More because it has no activation requirement so it forced the killer to juggle that was a massive time waster not you can't do that
0 -
That too.
I remember the pain of 30% wiggle DS. That was beyond horrifying.
