Please Revert The New HUD Immediately.

Yes, I know the update is coming out tomorrow, yes I know it won't be possible to revert the HUD this update. Thank you I'm not a complete dumbass.

I just want to ask one final plea to the developers in hopes of something happening which I know is very doubtful. Revert the new HUD... why?

I know these reasons have been given countless times but what more could it hurt to repeat what's true? The original HUD is good because it's compact. It doesn't obscure your vision, we're all familiar with it, and all the elements don't look out of place. The new HUD is all around the god damn screen. I have to look in the top right to see what survivor states everyone is in, bottom right for perks, top middle for generators, bottom left for my item, top right for scoring actions, right for status effect, bottom right for perks. Why in God's name do I have to go on a ######### scavenger hunt to figure out what's happening in the game when it used to be all there for me to take in. Another thing to note is that the character portraits don't fit in with the rest of the UI. The perk icons go for a much more simplistic design with no color. Honestly, if you're gonna put the character icons in place of the healthy status, injured status, etc you should use the archive/adept icons. Also from what I've seen it's really hard to discern when someone is injured just for a quick glance. I don't want to be staring at the HUD for more than 5 seconds figuring out who is injured. That means I'm not paying attention to my chase or skill checks and so on. Another thing to note about the status indicators is the struggle/bleed out bar. The names are no longer centered to the bar which means it's harder to tell when someone is entering struggle on a hook which makes it hard to decide whether I can make it or not. Now that that's out we can move onto another issue is the colors. I saw that exhaustion was changed from the default color to a dark red. Why? It's dark red on black. In case you haven't figured it out those two colors have a far smaller contrast compared to white and black. Again I don't want to look at the HUD for more than a few seconds to get all the info I need so thanks a lot.

I find it hard to believe that you guys actually made this and looked at the old HUD and said "This is a vast improvement!" because it isn't the old HUD is damn near perfect. Just add the character icons to the old HUD, do whatever with a hook counter cause I don't really care for that, and bingo you've pretty much perfected the HUD. This HUD no joke makes me want to stop playing this game and that makes me sad since I've been playing this game for over a year and I've loved a lot of my time I've spent on this game. I have like 1,500 hours and I no joke want to stop playing because of the HUD. Also the movement, in my opinion, isn't so great but I can mostly get behind it. The HUD though? No. I refuse to.

What boggles my mind the most is that you're ignoring our feedback. You realize that if a majority of the playbase dislikes something that you shouldn't continue with it. That's like making a meal for someone who doesn't like the food you cooked and has told you countless times then the next day you make the same god damn food over and over. (Well sorta... that was kinda a bad metaphor or whatever it's called). Nevertheless, I hope that you've understood my point.

If you're 100% staying in this new HUD then allow us an option to use the old HUD. Like it's already built into the damn game it can't be that hard to just use something that's been in the game since it's literally been introduced. I get that you don't want to throw away all of the hard work that you've spent on the new HUD but if something is objectively bad, then it's bad.

Sorry, I kinda rambled on there but I had to. I just couldn't contain this frustration that I've had even if many other people have already spoken basically the exact same thing before... thank you and seriously Behaviour, please revert the new HUD.

Or are you gonna pull a classic BHVR and ignore the community when we say something is bad?

the best way to show them we don't like the new hud is to not play. make the numbers go down drastically.

We'll get used to the new thing after a few days, like we did with every other change we didn't like at first.

My main issue with the new HUD is the fact they used colors for the survivors pictures and the wounded status is just a lighting effect around it, it's a bit hard to tell who's wounded or not, as you mentioned in your original post. I'd just make them black and white and be done with it. Or heck, a generic image like we're used to, the player's name, and underneath it, in a smaller font, the character's name, so we know at a quick glance who's who.

I don't think they will return the old HUD. But I hope that after the release of the new one there will be a big wave of negative feedback and some loss of players. This will force BHVR to optimize it.

I seriously doubt DBD community is that... united for that to happen.

How much backlash? The answer is a LOT. Like a AWFUL LOT.

Just think about how many ill-advised changes they backtracked on in recent history, without going all the way back to the infamous update where you could stun/blind the killer during pick up. Not many out the top of my head.

    I can only recall:

    • Hillbilly's overheat and they only toned down the numbers, because it was literally impossible to chainsaw in the PTB (i.e. character breaking).
    • Aura update. Actually reverted because genuinely game breaking.
    • Colorblind options. They actually didn't revert anything here but their stance that "it will come when it does". And they were strong-armed into it in order to damage control a massive PR ######### show.

My biggest single gripe is the placement of the gen counter. It's a number that starts at 5 and decrements predictably at most 5 times per match, accompanied by a loud fanfare each time that happens. Why is it taking up the center-top of the screen as though we will constantly need to check it? Put it in a corner or at the bottom of the screen. Use that top-edge real estate for the action/power progress bars or, better yet, just leave it empty so we can see in front of us.

  • This new HUD is absolutely horrendous, what on Earth were they sniffing when they thought up this steaming pile? Everything was easily seen as it was in the bottom section of the screen, now it's all over the bloody place!

I could keep an eye on the progress bar to see if it turns yellow (Spine Chill) and see if the obsession is being chased or anyone is injured at the same time... Now it's practically impossible! No one asked for it, no one needed it!
