The New HUD
Hey DBD Team
I have been playing for quite some time now and when I heard the new patch notes I was hopeful - and while "The Game" is much improved (as well as the other two maps) I am not at all for the new HUD.
The Idea of seeing the survivors face on the HUD is great for the killer to identify the obsession for perks such as: Save the Bes For Last for example, however the icons are not unique and are the default skin. So if there were two Megs for example, the clarity of this new design philosophy is pointless... The HUD has other issues, gen progress, perks, survivor condition and items/ ability are all now in different parts of the screen making it feel visually cluttered and gives a player one too many things to look at when a lot of this game's design relies on observation of what's in front of you - the HUD providing distraction is counter intuitive to the DBD's philosophy. Final issue, art direction, the damage "slash" over the survivor is new and in my opinion pretty cool looking, but when put into dying state the new style reverts back to the crawling white figure seen in the old HUD, this inconsistency is sloppy and makes the game look like its in Alpha (which are words taken from a friend of mine who also plays).
Overall I'd suggest that we revert to the old HUD, where information is confined to the bottom left and right but replace the white outlines with survivor headshots (which take into account the skins they are wearing) that have the new slash over the image when injured but when in dying state, completely red-out the image of their face. This I feel would make the HUD feel new yet familiar and still adhere to the new style you guys are implementing.
Thanks for the fun times,
Avid DBD player
