The New HUD & a few other things
I left this comment on youtube and it got a bunch of likes and I was told to post it here.
My main issue with the HUD is having the team down the left side may obstruct the view for survivors keeping an eye out for the killer. A crawling pig, a leaning ghostface or a stalking Myers. You never look to the bottom left for that as its too close. Its always the upper areas. To me, the lay out looks like what would of been in the early stages of development, not nearly 5 years into the game. Gens up the top middle makes no sense. Its more in the way than the original lay out. It makes me think they are going to add a game mechanic which will occupy some areas because to me its nonsensical. Also playing on a laptop, I find the struggling and borrowed time bars are harder to read. I guess they would grow if I make the HUD bigger, but I assume they are at the size they are at because DBD doesnt want to obstruct the view... a solution to that would be put it in the bottom left like it was.
This is what happens when you try to fix a problem that does not exist. An attempt to ''tidy'' the game view has everything scattered in a way that has the game looking like its in the beta stage of development. Also I do not need to see colour images of other teammates. Its more distracting than the white symbols. I also personally feel survivors shouldn't be reminded how many hooks someone has left. Any time I have misjudged if someone is dead on hook, I blamed myself for not noticing. I did not feel BHVR is keeping info from me. If BHVR insist on having a hook counter, I would have it appear above the symbol when a character is downed, due to survivors looking there at that moment to see who got downed.
All this is a shame really. Recently got a friend to buy the game and we have played the game regularly. Now I have to try and explain why the game looks messy and broken.
