lobby game management criticism

we've been playing a lot dbd with 4 players and the lobby invite system is waisting so much of our time.

the current workflow:

  • invite friend, send link via steam (or invite yourself by clicking 'join game' in steam chat)
  • then you get together into a pre-lobby and click 'ready'
  • finally all friends get assigned to a host, however
  • if the ping is bad we have to leave individually and redo all steps
  • in 30% of the cases the killer kicks us and we have to redo all steps

note: my steam ingame overlay is broken by only showing black areas where the chat widget should be so i have to use ALT+TAB always. so annyoing.

proposed workflow:

  • invite friend (using steam is not so bad idea)
  • get together in the pre-lobby
  • select to join host only if ping is less than a certain threshold -> we prefer 150ms at most or we will leave manually

from there it would be nice if the friends stay in the pre-lobby and can potentially kick each other (if someone left and didn't leave the group when closing the game).

this would be hilarious!
