New Gideon is the worst map I've ever played in my entire life

I say this with no hyperbole. I just experienced it for the first time as an M1 killer.

You just hold W. You literally just hold W. Every single pallet is a safe pallet.

Whoever designed this, as a designer you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. Absolutely ashamed.

People want to complain about "no counterplay" killers, THIS is the very definition of no counterplay. Hell every pallet I saw was so safe the survivor doesn't even have a chance to make a mistake.

I'm assuming this wasn't an accident. People crying about no counterplay killers and then we end up with a map where you literally just hold W and every pallet is ultra safe with no mindgame potential. This is who they balance the game towards.

No wonder survivors kept burning this offering.

Comments

  • First: I love the visual update. The orange/blue walls, the new stairs, fridge, the big open room, THE RATS etc.

But even when playing as survivor it's not that fun. You can't really loop in a lot of the areas, you just put the pallet down and run and there's like 3 windows

  • For what it's worth if Campbell's chapel and meat plant are what we can expect going forwards I'm seriously done with the game. Everyone is hoping it's just a huge blunder but we will see. I'm expecting changes soon because this shouldn't be in the game it's so bad.

In the meantime I'm not even going to bother playing it because what's the point? AFK, dc or facecamp because DAMN is this abysmal for 90% of the killers in the game.

It’s not only Gideon map, all newly reworked maps are just safe pallets and when you break 5 pallets and manage to get close there’s dead hard to help get to another pallet. Game is turning into a pallet simulator.

I play survivor a lot too and it’s getting boring escaping every game with troll perks and not to mention using sprint burst, dead hard, spine chill and med kits with syringe or borrowed time untop of 2nd chance perks and complaining that killer is overpowered.

I watch my fellow survivors when I use kindred or empathy and basically they’re beyond useless and bad so it’s kinda obvious it will get hard to escape when 3 ppl are crouched in 3 different corners of the map

I'd like to think it's not deliberate, and was hoping that it was some kinda of bug that spawns every possible pallet in every location, but I'm concerned nothing about it was addressed in the latest patch and there's been no further mention of it.

As an M1 killer it barely even constitutes gameplay, if you want to chase survivors there's no alternative to endless pallet kicking.

Aesthetically it's great but there need to be more unsafe pallets and much less pallets overall, maybe a few more windows.

And I get that breakable walls are here to stay but having to drop a survivor to break a wall to get to a hook is just irritating, especially when you've just kicked 12 pallets to get them down in the first place.

That map has always been safe pallet city even before the rework. The graphic update just made the pallets a little easier to find, they could be hard to find sometimes before the update.

  • That's exactly how I felt too, "it barely constitutes gameplay",

I'm still baffled how so much detail went into it....yet nobody playtested it? or do they just not care.

I've taken some photos for review and I might put them on here tomorrow or saturday because I think the designers have forgotten just how bad these pallets are.

when survivors are crying here for buffs devs dont even sleep so they can please them. When killers ask for balance and fair buffs, devs don’t care and gently tell them to go (*** *) Themselves. I honestly hope survivor queues are at least 30 mins so devs can see what unfairness can cause

    TIME TO EQUIP BRUTAL STRENGTH!

  • So lets look at how this map is being received so far.

A good introduction video which lays out some of the complaints.

Now lets look at what some of your own fog whisperers think

(It's in the second half of the video, 14:00)

    Other players

(Just watch his second game, it's just hold shift+W to win)

(This player sure sounds like he's having fun)

Basically the map is horrid and it's affecting the fun of the game. I dread this map coming up everytime I load a game. All of the pallets are too safe and there is no gameplay if you use an M1 killer, you just hold forwards. You only get a hit if the survivor gets greedy. Also the god pallets that block off corridors and hallways are terrible and should not be in the game.
