Skill Checks Fail After Leaving Generator

Often, I go to leave a generator and the game will continue with its skill checks. Then, I will fail a skill check when I am no longer repairing the gen. Sometimes the skill check is triggered the moment I leave the gen and others is a second or two after. Either way, it gets me killed pretty often.
I’m playing on PS4 and it happens at random, I can “recreate” it just by playing and waiting for it to happen again.

If a skill check triggers as you leave an activity (repairing, healing, sabotaging, etc) it will auto-fail the skill check. That is intentional. Sometimes there's lag so the server doesn't know you've actually stopped the activity, but will still trigger a skillcheck.
