You've heard the joke a thousand times.
"If a bear is chasing us, I don't need to run fast, just faster than you."
Here is my idea:
You and teammate are being chased by killer. During that chase, the teammate1 with the "trip" perk can trip the other teammate2, granting teammate1 a speedboost (a bit subtler than deadhard) and teammate2 a few seconds of exhaustion.
This allows teammate 1 to avoid the killer.
