Killer Hook Tracking Wheel

The latest update brought Killers a 12-pip wheel that fills in as survivors are hooked. However, if a survivor dies for any reason, all of their "hooks" are added to the wheel in the exact same color. The end result is to show how many times the remaining survivors must be hooked before the game is over.

The issue here is that filling in pips automatically does not provide useful information. If someone is hooked once, struggles, then gives up, three pips are filled in despite only one hook actually taking place. Similarly, if somebody disconnects off the bat, three pips just pop onto the wheel despite zero killer interaction. This is an issue for a number or reasons:

  • It makes it difficult to judge how your emblems will shake out, since only one of the 3 pips rewarded any points
  • It makes it difficult to track progress on Challenges involving hooks
  • It makes it difficult to track how many blood points you're earning, since you're losing out on all the missed hook points
  • It creates a misleading sense of proficiency, since you're filling up triple the hook states because survivors are either giving up or their team mates aren't rescuing them instead of actually downing survivors
  • It confuses how many times you've hooked the other team, since you might have five pips but only 2 hooks.

Basically: its current state is all but useless. Instead: how about when you actually put a survivor on a hook, a pip turns red, and if they die through any other means, the remaining pips light up in white or some other color? That way, you can keep the 'track how many hook states remain' while also adding in information on how well you're doing for your challenges, emblems, points, skill, and actual game progress. It might also be useful for relevant game tracking data, as all the red pips involve actual killer performance while those white pips reflect something going wrong in the course of the normal game flow on the survivor side.
