The devs should communicate with us better about upcoming chapter release dates

For every patch, the devs never announced a tentative date for the new update patch, prefering to announce it on the day it releases. Therefore, when the chapter comes a bit later than expected, like with Twins and now Trickster, they tend to say a variation of "We never said the date of the new patch". However, I don't accept this excuse.

Even though they never announce a date, the devs are consistent in the length of time it takes from PTB to live that the community knows when to expect a patch. New patches usually come out 3 weeks after the PTB on a Tuesday. So even with no word from the devs, there's an unspoken agreement between them and the player base about what to expect.

The devs know about this as well, that's why they allowed Paulie Esther to say that the chapter is not coming this week. If the community wasn't expecting a release date, why would the devs feel the need to do this? Even in his tweet Paulie was expecting the chapter to come out this week.

So if we established that both the devs and players are aware of a time frame for the chapter release, then why didn't the devs make an announcement about it on their twitter? Why did they make Paulie break the news instead of doing it themselves?

To make perfectly clear, I'm not criticizing the devs for delaying the chapter. If they feel the need to take a while longer to work on the chapter, then I would prefer that over getting a buggy patch. What I am going to criticize is their communication regarding chapter release dates.

First, they announced the delay on the Monday, the day before we were expecting the patch. Why is there such short notice, and why did they only announce it in a reply to a comment asking about it? This is something you should make a pinned post, not a comment in a meme about shirtless Dwight.

Then, when people ask about it, they say "We never specified the release date". In my opinion, this is a bit unprofessional as it comes across as them trying to shift blame towards the community for presuming a wrong date. If they said "We are working on fixing bugs and making a polished patch so we have to hold the patch a little longer", I would accept that better and wouldn't have any qualms with it. Maybe some people would complain about the delay but they are doing so now anyways. What they're doing now makes it look like they don't want to say that they're delaying a patch so they hide behind the excuse.

To summarize, I don't mind if they need to delay a patch, but the devs should make a better effort to communicate with the community about any upcoming patch. Even if they just say "We are aiming to release the patch on the (date) of (month), but please keep in mind that this is a tentative date and it may be changed if necessary" would do wonders in bridging the gap between the devs and players. I'm not one that revels in bashing the devs and this is a very minor gripe that I have been writing about for too long maybe, but I do think their communication on this area could be improved.

TLDR: The devs should improve their communication with it comes to chapter releases.

EDIT: Changed the title to better reflect the point of the post.
