Swapping last second sucks
Alright Imma say this now, first off I mainly play survivor but I do play killer some.(like 60/40) However no matter what side I'm currently playing on, the worse feeling I get is when people decide to swap items/characters at the last second.(IE: swap to a Kei or 3 characters with toolboxes and BNPs) Like it hurts the game so much. I wish that BHVR would somehow change this because it feels like it ruins the game the moment it starts and killers either have to suffer through the match or deal with the DC penalty if they decide to DC(which honestly I wouldn't blame them) I feel like survivors should get the same treatment that killers got where they can't swap survivors once they are in a lobby with the killer. As for the last minute item swapping I'm unsure of... Maybe make it so survivors cant change items at the 15-30 second mark of the countdown? That way if there are last minute swaps that could give the killer a few seconds to modify their build if they are quick enough.
I'd be open to discuss the possibilities of how to fix this because honestly I constantly see last minute swapping and it just feels like I'm swallowing ice lol.

I don't get why they haven't addressed this yet, imo at the 30 second mark or so the survivors entire loadout should be locked.
If the killer can't switch survivors shouldn't be able to do so with their items/characters especially when the lobby shows survivors so the killer has a chance to adjust their loadout depending on what they see.

Survivors are just a skin

They still shouldnt be allowed to swap to a different survivor at the last second with an item with the add-ons they want already in hand.

I do this a lot but its due to me putting bloodpoints into another character until the last second and switching since wait times for survivors is much higher than killer is. I rarely run keys unless its a daily or a challenge.

Why shouldn’t they?

The problem is not the swapping. Survivor cant see anything about the killer, too. The problem is that things like keys exist which are so strong and annoying that many killer would dodge them. If this things would be nerfed, i would have no problem with last second swapping.

dude ######### does this have to do with gameplay? your talking about making survivors not switch characters when theyre in a lobby. r u really this mad-

My only issue is that its not just keys. Like a 3-4 man SWF with toolboxes swapping at the last second and then having the offering where they all start together and potential map offering. Yea its a lot more rare than a sudden key swap but it still bites.

Why not? They did it to killers(I know part of the reason is the MMR they intend to implement) but as someone said in this forum that they are just skins then whats the big deal with just locking them? I mean its not like the perks survivors use change all that much a part from the meta(other than other survivors who use other perks that arent meta) I think it would be a nice change.

They should just let killers change to another killer to also adapt with the situation.
2 -
Sadly they wont do that as they plan on implementing the MMR system and your score will vary per killer :/

Assuming the purpose of killers seeing survivor load out is so killers can pick load out as a response, last minute swap is working around a game mechanic, and therefore there needs to be a period in which survivor character and load out is locked but killer can still change perk load out.
Else remove ability for killers to see survivors in queue. Why have a game mechanic so easily circumvented?

do you have a real reason? survivors are happy this way is my reason.

Could make it so that if a Survivor changes their character or loadout last second, it adds another 15 seconds to the lobby to let the Killer adjust, as well as lock the Survivor in that triggered the lobby timer extension.

Lobby wait time of a minute takes so long anyway. Everyone except one survivor is ready and then everyone has to wait for the timer go to zero... Just lock survivors at 45 seconds and give killers the last 15 to adapt to late swaps. Killers can't swap who they play so 15 seconds is enough for last minute swaps e.g. light born, franklin's, or sloppy butcher.
If killer bails then the next one maybe gets at most 30 seconds with survivor load out still locked.

Ya, I like that suggestion. Good call.

Yh but why dont you like toolboxes? Bc they can be too strong. So if they would be weaker, it wouldnt matter that they swapped last second. Keys were just a example.

I don't think it's about toolboxes. It's seeing 4 swapped in last second. You now know you're dealing with swf likely with BNP who will gen rush. So now you adapt, maybe bring discordance or tinkerer and ruin since you're planning on early game rush. So if you chase off the gen you waste the BNPs.

When theres perks like franklins and lightborne yeah they shouldn't be allowed to swap because thats the whole point. You equip lightborne to counter people bringing in flashlights but noone has a item just for them all to swap at last second giving the killer 0 chance to do anything.
0 -
They removed it because of the MMR. Every killer will have its own MMR and if killers would still be allowed to swap there would be no reason to have a SBMM in the first place.

So the problem with last second swapping is that you cant hardcounter the survivor? When its about that, i guess i understand last second swapper. Who wants to bring a flashlight against lightborn?

Point I'm making is that the game was designed for killers to see what survivors are bringing, so obviously Bhvr intended for killers to hard counter items. Last minute swapping is a trivially easy way to defeat this mechanic. So they should either fix the mechanic by locking in survivor builds for a period of time or remove the mechanic altogether.
If survivors bring 4 flashlights they should do so knowing they risk a lightborn. One or two flashlights, lightborn is still not worth it. Also, a flashlight is just an item. It can be replaced by items in a chest in the match. I think it's far more penalizing when a killer spends one of his 4 perk slots to bring lightborn just for survivors to last minute swap out. He has truly wasted a slot. This is why I never run lightborn and stick with Franklin's.

Ehm...swapping to a character with a key in hand very much affects gameplay...

Honestly, locking survivor loadouts in at 30 seconds is pretty much perfect. Gives the killer half a minute to slap on Franklin's for any keys that pop up.

I don't really think it makes a big difference, franklins/light born aren't worth equipping because they don't really make that big of an impact regardless.
