Removing the reverse bear trap (pc)

In a recent game I played against Pig and they placed a trap on me, which I tried to remove three times without being successfull, which ended up with me dying during the 4th try because I ran out of time. Is this a bug or is removing the trap supposed to take three or more tries? Usually it has come off on the 1st or 2nd try but three or more seems a little extra considering the time it takes to find so many stations to remove it.
