Franklins Demise is countered extremely easy
survivors drop their items on the ground say its a key for example, and they grab it when they need it.
make it that the 90 second timer will activate regardless if its a hit causing the drop or the survivor themselves are dropping the item.
Franklins should not be countered in such easy and silly way

"franklins shouldn't be countered in such an easy and silly way, instead it should just have no counter."
is what you're saying lmao. no <3

How? You'd still have to actually hit them if they choose not to manually drop the item.

I get so many second hits because survivors can't leave their items, that's a feature, not a bug.

yeah um..... no

sorry but thats a no from me homie

Using Franklin's to protect items (and get hits while doing so) is a mistake because it relies on survivors to make an even worse mistake. If you protect the item, the survivors can just run off and do gens for 90 seconds, or do gens for 70 seconds and grab it at the last moment. All this progress happens while the killer is wasting time protecting an item that doesn't inherently generate pressure. Franklin's is not a sufficient answer to the keys especially, because keys do not primarily have value except once at the end of the game. It's alright against medkits, because dropping that prevents a self heal, even if it's picked up later. It's also effective against flashlights because it disables the item for the second half of that chase and/or prevents flashlight saves.
But maps, toolboxes, and keys, which see periodic or single use of great value--as opposed to the continual value generated by medkits and flashlights--are not threatened by Franklin's Demise, and attempting to destroy them outright results in an unacceptable loss of generator pressure. Against an intelligent survivor Franklin's either prevents a future self-heal at best, does nothing, or even becomes a liability to the killer by encouraging them to defend a pointless area. Something needs to change, if not Franklin's. Personally, I think an Overwhelming Presence rework to take on some of these responsibilities would be nice.

@PantlessMyers What you just said about not forgetting the item is the very thing my post went into detail talking about why it wouldn't work against a decent team. Keeping an eye on the item and defending it is just asking for survivors to go on gens while you defend a key that they won't need because you were defending the key instead of generating pressure.
1 -
That doesn't make Franklin's Demise good, it just means that those teams misplay because they become emotional about their items.

But you're arguing that it shouldn't be buffed based on the fact that being territorial of the item is currently a strong enough use case. You can't just dodge the issue by saying that it's all a subjective opinion while still maintaining that it's strong enough as is.
What would the great tragedy be if survivors weren't allowed to nullify an entire perk by dropping the item before they're hit? When I play survivor with a key, I don't hold ever hold onto it. I immediately find somewhere safe and drop that key, even before knowing if the killer has Franklin's. Is that skillful play? Is that a enough of a giga-brained strat that I deserve to kill an enemy perk slot?

uh what

Yeah, and OP's suggestion makes perfect sense. The only item that Franklin's is worth using on is a Key. No other item is worth going out of your way to pick up again. And if all you need to do to keep your key safe from Franklin's is to drop it at the beginning of the match and pick it back up once the Hatch spawns, what exactly is Franklin's accomplishing?
1 -
That sounds like you are running into bad Survivors. There's no reason to pick up items that Franklin's knocked out of your hand (other than the Key, which, again, has a hard counter to it) unless it is conveniently on your way to whatever gen/hook you are going toward.
I think it is an issue because it means Franklin's is useless against competent Survivors and pointless against the one item it might have some use against (the Key). Franklin's should not be so easily HARD countered by an an action that can be taken at the beginning of a match.

yes I'm just gonna go ahead and break the R key on their keyboard. oh wait they can still rebind " drop item " to another key.
never mind I'm just too noob, I can't do what you asked me.."""""" you're suppsoed to not let them counter it "
I swear some people have no idea what they are talking about, no disrespect what so ever .
also seeing it's aura can't really help me in any way. the survivor chooses when to go back and pick their item, not me .

who said bug ? could you please read the post again?

thank you for your thoughts

any reasoning behind the no or just a no for the sake of a no?
cheers anyways for sharing your thoughts

dudes describing rank 12 matches.

I would say Franklins needs a small buff where if survivors pick up the same item twice, no matter who it is, the item on the third time will just vanish. That could solve a lot of issues. Then again, survivors could just drop their items in a safe spot at the beginning of the match and leave. Still it’s better than nothing.

The point of franklin's is to reward a killer for being able to hit a survivor with an m1, and I believe that the proposed changed disregards it, respect ur opinion and suggesting a change tho

Better suggestion: When a survivor is hit it will force him to drop the item, dropped item will lose its charges overtime after all charges are consumed, the entity will consume the item.

can you please comment on both peices?

nah you didn't say im noob, I just thought I am cause you said " don't let them counter it" I thought to myself, how can I disable the R key. but then realized they can rebind it to another key.
however, what you said makes sense, key rework might change some things so maybe we wait and see

alot of people seem to not comprehend this sadly

why

I literally said shouldn't be countered " easily" I dodn't say it shouldn't be countered " LMAO "

only dropped upon getting hit? I mean can they still Press R and counter the perk easily?
