Gens are boring
So as we all know, doing gens is kinda boring. It's basically pressing a button for 80 seconds while occasionally pressing skill checks. Ironically, getting frightened by a stealth killer is the most exciting thing about fixing gens. This conception is one of the main reasons why gen regression cannot be buffed, because having to fix one all over again is bOrInG. It's also the reason why survivors ignore their objectives and just throw themselves at the killer, hoping for a chase.
Now I remember some time ago about suggestion to make skill checks more engaging which also make doing gens more engaging which leads me to this idea. You know how rhythm games are basically just lots of skill checks arranged into a song? What if there's an option to toggle the skill checks in the menu and make it so skill checks can be arranged into songs? Basically you get to arrange when and where the skill checks appear and how many of them will appear as well as what note they play upon hitting it.
The only benefit would be a separate category for BP gained from extra skill checks due to only some random amount of the skill checks granting extra progression (Missing any still makes a loud noise notification so you can play a song forever with Technician). It might distract you from the killer but let's be honest, would you rather be pressing a button for 80 seconds while a loud killer like Clown hobbles slowly towards you or would you rather play Through the Fire and the Flames on your generator?

Lol legit one of the weirdest ideas I've ever heard of for this game.
I like it.

Now I'm imagining working on a gen with Sprint Burst while doing skill checks to the tune of "U Can't Touch This"

Imagine playing the soviet anthem before getting sniped by Huntress

Personally I think DBD should do more with the chest around the map, maybe create mini side quest for the survivors where they have to search around the map for specific chest to obtain certain tools or parts for the gens.
This can create extra task and excitement for the survivors, give time for the killers, halt gen rushing, but also speed it up if all survivors actually partake in searching for these parts.
If you want to get more advanced, they could add special skill checks for individual parts. For example, a survivor found motor oil and it repairing, instead of a regular skill check they will get 3 skill check in a single go and will have to hit then all correctly to successfully install the part and enhance the gen more.

You wanna turn a game about survivors being chased by a killer into Dance Dance Revolution?
This K-pop chapter really was a mistake look at what it did to players.

It won't be good addition for players who don't really like rhythm games.

Doing gens should be easy enough to be aware what's going on around. If repairing was exciting on it's own, survivors would get into trouble more often.

thats the point tho

Never thought about it, but yeah, maybe it is boring.
It could be more interesting if survivors had to collect items all over the map to fix gens?
Like finding wrenches, bolts, gas etc?

It's such a weird idea and I love it for that reason. It would be nice if you could do something with skill checks/gens while repairing the generators.

People have been saying for years how they would like another objective, yet when a killer has noed and totems pretty much become a second objective; they all start having a hissy fit on the forums about noed. You literally can't win in this game!

Gens are boring, if you played HSH: Survive. I like the idea of the Quick time events that you've got to hit instead of Skill checks. Just makes it feel more interactive.
I think Dead by Daylight could be re-imagined better. Having each Killer have their own ways of escaping the trial instead of every Killer having generators. For Example
To Escape Clown: Disarm 5 Gas Bombs by pouring in solutions you have to collect around the map etc...
I don't know but it could make the entire trials more interactive with the Killers & Survivors. A lot of games where I don't even get to interact with the Killer and depip is all too frequent

I had an idea that every generator would include 2 to 3 procedurally generated puzzles that the survivors need to solve.
Each puzzle has a time limit (say, 20 seconds) to keep the survivors stressed. If the timer runs out or the survivor gives a wrong solution, the killer gets a loud noise notification and the puzzle randomizes again.
