Why was Hillbilly's base kit destroyed while Huntress wasn't?
Before you go down to the comments to roast the hell out of me, I'm not saying that Huntress needs a nerf to her base kit, in fact when the patch notes stated that they weren't going to change her base kit I was beyond relieved but the question I'm asking is why did the dev's see it fit to nerf Hillbilly, a perfectly balanced character other than his broken addons, and not Huntress who is also a perfectly balanced character? What make's Huntress base kit so much less stronger than Hillbilly's to not get nerfed?
Ever since his nerf Hillbilly is still a decent character but he feels awful to play. Wanna use the speed addons? Well too bad because after only using your chainsaw a couple of times you'll be on the verge of overheating. Some of his addons like lopro chains are decent but then you have other addons like black grease, tuned carburetor, and off brand motor oil that are completely useless.
It's just so disheartening to play as Hillbilly and constantly being reminded that he's nothing more than a shadow of his former self.

Yes, i want huntress to get nerfed so much

This is apples and oranges but I don't know why killers like Billy are nerfed whereas killers that get, by FAR, the most amount of complaints like Spirit are left alone.

I'm not calling for nerfs, just answering the question. And the answer is that there's more than one huntress main among the devs. I mean, they even let her keep her exhaustion add on after taking them away from anyone else (and yes, 5 seconds are still very impactful and unlikely to recover during a chase).
They didn't even attempt to improve her
truckhatchet hitboxes, even though they're more capable to make more accurate ones now after Deathslinger and Trickster.4 -
- Those 5s of exhaustion only have an impact if you "99" your exhaustion perk. If you're not exhausted then it doesn't change munch.
- I wish Iri head was 1hit at range( like 24+m) instead of 1max hatchet.
- If they were to change her hitbox they'd have to rework her windup/cooldown after throwing which can be lot of work.

Billy for a very long time was considered one of the strongest killers in the game, I think it stands to reason that after significant map & loop changes, significant pallet changes, perk changes etc that they decided he was built when a time that playing killer was actually a hard experience and decided that he deserved the nerf because of that.

He wasn't considered the strongest, he was considered the most balance. Nurse had 5 blinks and Spirit had collision with survivor, they were well above him.

I mean the only thing about huntress's base kit that needs changes are her hatchet hitboxes, sorry but throwing semi trucks at people is just dumb and there are plenty of times when I get a hit and I'm like "no that did not hit but okay game."

I still don't understand why everyone considered him to be 'the golden standard for killer balance'. I didn't win a single game against him in solo queue because he deleted potato teammates and had insane snowball potential.

Pre nerf Billy and pre nerf Spirit were at the same time
Billy's rework was on patch 4.1.0, Jully 28 2020.
Spirit was release on patch 2.1.0 Jully 24 2018, her nerf was on patch 3.4.0 December 3 2019
There were 2 years where old Billy & pre nerf Spirit were in the same game.
Many killer reck survivor that are weaker & can't loop properly, that doesn't they are OP. Old Billy still took some skill to pull off most of his tricks and wasn't as oppressive as old Nurse & Spirit. A skilled Hag can be pretty devastating too not to mention Huntress that can snipe you across the map.
There were 2 killer that were way stronger than him and 2 other that were about the same power if played properly.

Huntress arm should get tired after holding a hatchet for 5 seconds. She becomes fatigued and cannot use hatchets for the next 15 seconds. Also, she can drop her hatchet when it is almost fully charged and have to wait 15 seconds as well.
I think if we are "standardizing" all killers, we should be impartial to who it happens to. Spirit should scream when she starts phasing as well.

I guess I'll explain myself more.
before spirit was a thing billy was considered one of the strongest killers in the game, then they changed the game a lot including spirit and decided he needed toned down, spirit also needs something so shes counterable is that clearer?
and honestly turn your battle mode off, I'm just explaining WHY they may have changed him, I'm not justifying it or anything just stating he was made when killer was a lot harder.

OK I see what you mean.
Yeah he was the strongest, but that doesn't mean he was too strong or OP. He was part of the original trio (Trapper, Wraith, Billy).
Wraith was trash and couldn't deal with big map, god window or god pallet.
Trapper was nerf on multiple occasion and he took a whooping 4.5s to set up a Bear Trap.
These two were well underpower for what they had to deal with. Trapper was buff before the map got changed and Wraith got most of his buff & strongest buff well after the first few maps were changed.
Billy, even after the map got reduce in size wasn't oppressive, strong yes, but not too strong/op.

I honestly like some Billy's new add-ons, like LoPro Chains, Heavy Clutch, Mother's Helpers (this one's timer should be buffed tbh), Leafy Mesh, his iri add-ons, and honestly, Tuned Carburettor is really cool as it rewards faster charge time at the cost of losing speed, basically changing his gameplay style a bit. Overheat LITERALLY killed Billy though, he plays like old Bubba, but with mobility.
If they want to keep Overheat, they should make it only work when the chainsaw revs, not during a chainsaw sprint. Make it decrease during a chainsaw sprint. Their intentions were to discourage camping, right? That'll be a simple change.

Id say im an OG Billy Player he was my first killer in the game and i played him for almost 3 and a half years until the announcement of his rework got out and I completely dropped him after hearing about the Overheat mechanic ill explain my dislikes with it.
1.) It is heavily punishing for Chainsaw feathering which should never have been punished in the first place.
2.) The Cooldown with Overheat is the dumbest thing its so long and forces you to run around like a m1 killer which punishes the Chainsaw only playstyle.
3.) Holding Billy's chainsaw is a nightmare with how fast he overheats.
Because of this Hillbilly has a low playrate alongside the Twins they took a once really fun and enjoyable killer and turned him into a boring playstyle that is only a shadow of its former self. Insta saw was the only thing wrong with Hillbilly not his base kit.

BHVR doesn’t like killers that require mechanical skill :(

I mean...it's a good thing that they didn't destroy her base kit.
Given the fact that the dev update post that included the changes specifically asked players not to worry, that they didn't change her base kit, I would imagine that they probably think the response to Billy's and Nurse's base kit change wasn't the greatest. So they decided to stick to an addon pass exclusively instead fiddling with her base kit.
This is me reading into what they said, given the pretty severe negative response to what happened to Billy. It could just be that they looked at a myriad other factors and decided that her base kit is just fine.

it should be pretty clear to everyone right now that the billy nerfs were totally unwarranted, he's in a really sad state right now

Billy was one of the only killers I didn't enjoy playing against. I enjoy going against the spirit, but billy, personally, felt less challenging and more annoying to go up against.
I haven't personally played billy since his update though, so perhaps I will hate playing him now with the changes?
